want to improve speeds and stability

My computers are on the top floor and modem in the main floor. I've noticed some instability in wifi connections and/or slow downs. Wondering if these would help mitigate the problem?

Powerline can be a solution if you can not run a wire.  Don't expect to see their "advertised" speeds

 

But they can be more stable than a wifi connection that is on the edge of usability due to signal strength, etc. 

 

The best solution if at all possible is run an actual wire, or use moca for the wired connection between the locations.  If you happen to have coax that runs between the locations.
