Sears Holdings Corporation went bankrupt and sold the remaining 400 profitable sears and kmart stores to the same man who ruined them to begin with just so that he could run off with all the land and assets while overseeing a slow motion liquidation that should have happened in the courts almost 10 years ago to maximize payback to the venders and investors.

the process of that slow motion liquidation is about to end. we are coming into the new year and the last bleed out of two iconic american brands are about to cause a flat line.

there are only 25 Sears stores left and as few as 6 k-marts in the continental US, but numbers are hard to confirm since they are always shrinking. You can count a few more on some islands and if anything survives out this coming  year  it will probably be those. I fully expect as the Christmas shopping season ends and Eddie Lampert has to take account of the few stores he has that it's not going to be pretty. within a month they will be announcing closings... maybe even all of them. This year is almost certainly the death of what was left.

The old Sears Holdings Corporation still exists mostly just as a legal entity to sue Eddie Lampert and to handle it's debts and legal obligations. It was last seen trading under SHLDQ for 1.5 cents.
