Just watched Jurassic World Dominion. It was boring and LOOOOOOONG,

There was one scene that annoyed me. It took place in an elevator between the black female lead and Chris Prat. The only reason for this STUPID scene to even be in the movie was to let the audience know, that's she "Also likes red-heads" to imply she's a lesbian.

Some people will of course call me homophobic for being annoyed by that scene. No, the movie was long enough as it was, and her being a lesbian had no relevance whatsoever to this movie.  They just had to "Check the box"

My Rating I give it 3 out of 10 (I think that scene I mentioned above dropped it a full point)

BBQ rating 1 out of 5

Guys... guys... You're forgetting the most important fact here.  They only ever made ONE Jurassic Park movie.  Everything after that is just the side effects of a bad kebab. ;)

Yes, it's a fine movie. Much better than I expected. Ihmo, the best since Arnold's original and possibly even pushing it given the absurd mini nuke...I'll hide in a ditch... moment.

I just watched the new Minions movie and don't care what anyone says. It was fun, thoroughly enjoyable.

As noted above there Thirteen Lives was really good. I do however recommend you watch the documentary interviewing the real guys involved and how it was portrayed. Howard did very well on the details though with this movie.

Yeah I saw the Nat. Geo doc on the rescue operation, and I don't think it gets any better than that. Personally I don't need the dramatization when you have the real thing done as well as it was.

I watched Prey a few days ago, thought it was solid though I can see how some can knock it for leaning into the "girl power" idea.

Spoiler

There's a part near the end where her brother is just wrecking the Predator till the story dictates otherwise and they have the predator go camo out of the blue, which honestly seems counter to what they've shown he'd act like up until that point.  Pulling a dirty move by relying on your tech to pull you out a clear losing situation.

On the narrative side as meh as that part is, it does however match previous events from a character standpoint.  The sister for example managed to wound the lion which allowed her brother to kill it and get the credit.   Now they flip that at the end with the brother going to town on the predator which later allows the sister to finish the job.

Overall I'd say a 8/10.

Scream (2022) IMDB, 6.3 (5.0 Stevie rating)

I didn't like it, the gory bits were good.. gave it a 5..

Spoiler

plot device: fans of the Scream movies (called Stab) didn't like Stab 8 so they decided to do it in real life on the victims, which btw are just movie characters, but actually victims IRL. I got a headache at being directed between all the possible killers.

Nah, wasn't as good as the Halloween reboot, which btw they also felt they needed to reference in the film.

Crocodile Dundee II (1988) 5.7 IMDB (5.0 Stevie rating)

This on my list of things to sit through from my revisit of 80's films, and well it was disappointing, none of the charm of the first film (which I saw a few months ago), it was like a well done steak, almost impossible to chew through!

Watched it on Amazon Prime and really enjoyed it 7/10.

Review rating seem a bit harsh at just 5.8, I suppose audiences expect polished sceneries and all-you-can-eat CGI in their super hero movies. What I saw was an old fashioned story telling movie. (yep seems the highest ratings came from <18yo and 45+ according to IMDB).

Young Stallone CGI was lame but I enjoyed the twist and the movie.

I'm not scared of heights... but this movie definitely pushed my anxiety buttons!

Thor: Love and Thunder (IMDB: 6.8) Stevie rating 7

It was pure CGI-porn but at the same time entertaining and that's what I want from a movie. I didn't feel like I needed to have watched four or five films before I understood what was going on in this one which was also good. I enjoyed a couple of surprise cameos which gave me some laugh out loud moments.

Spoiler

Matt Damon in the play, and Russel Crowe lifting his skirt when coming down the steps was hilarious!

7 is right were I'd put this as well, Saw it yesterday.    It looked fine overall, 90% of the jokes were eh IMO.  Story was ok, it felt that it could be very emotional but they tossed on so much of that flat MCU humor that it was almost buried by it.

Yeah for a moment I thought they were going to make cancer a serious part of the story, but they beautified her when she was dying. Honestly, the make up in the parts where she wasn't a Thor seemed spot on, right up until her death scene. It annoyed me that I was getting annoyed by it instead of being immersed in the scene.

Elvis 8/10

I watched this also this evening, and I thought it was great too. Was not impressed with the back to back quick cutaways at the start of the movie, and it felt like the end of his life was rushed a bit, despite taking up a good portion of the film showing the start of his residency at Las Vegas. I had mixed feelings of them substituting Austin Butler's acting (which was great) for historical footage of Elvis before the credits starting rolling (I think they would have been more suited there). For me 7/10.

Also saw Malignant (2021) I don't know why Stephen King and Nick Cage raved about it, I found it average.. 5/10.

Theres actually multiple places throughout the movie where historical footage is cut in.  I personally perfered they do that and damn is Austin made to be an Elvis impersonator :o

Yeah, that wasn't so bad as they weren't replacing him with the real Elvis earlier in the film. It was a shame the budget didn't allow to recreate those scenes rather than cut them in as you say.
