+Warwagon MVC Posted February 19, 2022 MVC Share Posted February 19, 2022 If you ever get this type of email in your inbox, delete it and don't click any of the links. It may mount to hundreds of emails! This is considered a smoke screen. It means someone might have acquired credentials to one or more of your accounts and is about to login. The smoke screen helps insure you get so many emails in your inbox that you might miss the sign-in notification from the site they are about ready to compromise / log into. In the case of Gmail and their great spam filtering most of these ended up in the spam folder except for a few. If this happens to you, I recommend keeping an eye on your email account for any new website sign ins, from people other than yourself. I would also recommend making a list of websites that you know you've reused the same password on and reset the password on each. goretsky 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1415672-psa-email-smokescreens/ Share on other sites
