Suddenly getting a massive influx of SPAM messages in my Gmail accounts that are not being caught by the filters

Just within the last week I have been getting a massive influx of SPAM coming into my gmail accounts, and they are not being labeled as SPAM despite them being very obvious that they are. Is there any way to enable more aggressive filtering? I can always tell from the subject that they are SPAM and login into the web interface and report them as SPAM, besides doing that, is there anything else that I can do?
