Western Digital (WD), which is one of the biggest and best manufacturers of storage devices in the world, was selling hard disk drives (HDDs) on its own website for as little as just $1. Yes, you read that part right, HDDs for as little as just $1. And if you think that's just a little too low for you, there were other buying options too for $3, $5, and $10.
Some of these listed models here are top-notch products too. For example, the $1 drive is WD Surveillance model with a 4.8 stars rating. The $5 one is an enterprise-class product in the form of the WD Gold. You can see these listings in the image below:
In fact our very own warwagon on the forums managed to place an order for 10 4TB HDDs for just $321, that's $32.10 per drive after discounts were applied.
We'll let you know if the order is honored or not.
Jokes aside, the prices that were being displayed here were probably due to some error that were overlooked and the company has appeared to have fixed the bug now.
Interestingly, it appears that all the super-cheap drives were actually out of stock in many places, though evidently not everywhere, so you may not have been able to buy them anyway even if you had tried hard. However, if you seriously happen to be shopping around for some external hard drives you can have a look at this deal where a Western Digital WD_Black 5TB HDD is selling for under $100 (via Newegg) for a limited time.
