Steven P. Administrators Posted June 28, 2022 Administrators Share Posted June 28, 2022 Interesting to read that Warner Bros is erring and stalling on recasting Amber Heard. It looks like they are minimising her role, but when a man is even accused (via social media) of some of the things Heard has done, that man is cancelled out of all projects before a court trial ever takes place. https://variety.com/2022/film/news/amber-heard-not-fired-aquaman-2-1235294301/ Long live equality eh? 🙄 sava700, Dick Montage, hellowalkman and 1 other 1 1 2 Share
Dick Montage
She is a vile woman who has been found guilty in a very high profile case. Where’s the cancel culture when it’s actually valid!? FloatingFatMan, sava700 and Steven P. 3 Share

FloatingFatMan
As much as I've loved many of the superhero movies we've had in the last 20 years, I really do think it's time for the genre to have a rest... They're starting to get almost as tedious as zombie movies/shows... macoman and dwd999 2 Share
Innervisions33
Looks fun... will be worth seeing in the theater at least once. It's all James Gunn after this. Herd is in the movie, as she should be. Doesn't seem like much, but there none the less.

I got tired of the same crap with different actors. dwd999 and FloatingFatMan 2 Share

Innervisions33
Saw this last week... it was pretty good. Nothing crazy, but not bad. It was very much a sequel, Amber Herd was very much in it, and no noticeable tie-ins with the larger DCEU. It will be worth your time once it streams. dwd999
I honestly don't see them making any more Aquaman movies for a long time so both stars are irrelevant. And the whole thing with the character's hair floating around their heads has gotten really tiresome for me (or maybe it could just be more subtle). sava700
Not a bad movie, the DC Universe though is done for me because they tried to replace Batman and Superman from their original actors. Marvel did good with sticking to the same people playing the same roles other than Roads in Ironman from 1-2. After that everyone was the same actor thruout. DC can't seem to understand this and make those few actors happy, keep them on.
dwd999
I seem to remember a discussion on some website about how Marvel had problems with some actors not wanting to commit to 9 movie deals. So we don't know whether its DC or the actors who are the cause of DC having to change actors. Also, Marvel at least seemed to be going somewhere with its sequence of movies leading up to Endgame. But DC doesn't seem to be going anywhere and is just recycling origin stories with a 1 or 2 movie follow-up.

The problem with DC as well is they keep adding more and more to their "multiverse" and keep rehashing the same stories over and over again
George P Global Moderator Posted February 13 Global Moderator Share Posted February 13 They'll do another Aquaman again, but not for some time for sure. The new DCU doesn't start till 2025 with Superman Legacy. So far all ew know is that we're getting new Superman, Supergirl and Batman movies to start. We don't even have any idea of the next Wonder Woman at this point. Though now that I remember we do know that there's a Green Lantern Corps show coming, so we do have that. I don't expect new Aquaman news till, probably, 2028. I think Mamoa comes back as Lobo for sure.

Not for any silly reasons like wokeism etc, but because Marvel already beat them to it years ago, did it much better, and don't keep retelling the same thing over and over again with origin stories like DC keep doing to Bats and Supes... Also, people are just tired of constant superhero movies now.

Batman will always make money, that's a given IMO. We also haven't seen a new Superman movie in a log time. None of the above will be origin stories btw. Gunn is pulling for comics that take place later in the characters lives.

Marvel are stumbling and failing now because, as I said before, people are just tired of constant superhero movies and IMO that's going to be the main reason why these new DC movies aren't going to pull the numbers they want, either. I mean really... Look at the Barbie movie. Can you really see a movie like that being taken even remotely seriously 10-15 years ago? It was so massive because, again IMO, it wasn't a superhero movie.
