Yankees to add Maddox to their allstar team

I am almost convinced after all this, it will definitely be in the talks, and the players union has zero leverage.

Stuff like this makes 1/3 of the teams in the league completely obsolete. Fans will lose interest, and such.

If Maddox signs with the Yankees, baseball will become sport's official joke.

I wish there would be a Salary Cap in baseball, as it would make it more exciting like Basketball and Football, but if there are any plans for it, the players will strike because they won't want a pay cut, and that will be even worse for the game. It's a lose-lose situation for Major League Baseball. I guess the only thing they have going for them is the David vs. Goliath matchup (Anyone else vs. The Yankees)......just waiting to see if anyone can knock off the Yanks.

These days, the biggest problem in all of sports is that with the exception of football, the regular season means NOTHING.

There are just too many games in bball (way to many teams make it to the playoffs, some are barely above 500), and baseball with 152 games.

There are 162 games, and they arent meaningless. The baseball season is a test of endurance. Most any team can roll off a couple of 5 or 6 game winning streaks in a season and a few 8 out of 10s, the point is to see what teams can hold their ground through 6 months of playing 6, sometimes 7 games a week. The regular season may seem long to outsiders, but to real baseball fans, its just right.

That was a typo, I meant 162.

I have a lot to say about your comment but I would rather not get off topic.

Just found out that the Baltimore Orioles (my team) are trying to trade Jerry Harrston Jr to the Yankess for a pitcher.

I dont really care about this considering we have too many 2nd baseman as it it, but if we do trade (i dont think it will happen) I can amagine us a good pitcher.

Yeah, when you can buy championships no **** you're spending your money well. It ruins the game for everyone else though.

It's almost like they're to the point that they'll need to split the teams up in divisions according to team salaries.

Wait a tick, it was OK for the Florida Marlins to BUY their championship back in 1997, but it's not OK for the Yankees to do it every year they can?

I'm sorry that George can afford to buy the talent he feels is needed to destroy everyone else in the league. Yes a salary cap would help alot, but in the end it's all about who you have on your roster. And George and his people always know who to get and that usually translates into World Series rings.

When they aquired Reggie Jackson, would you people have gone off the deep end like this? When they aquired Babe Ruth?

The NY Yankees (read: not George) as a team are always respected by other teams, because they are always respectful. PLEASE distinguish your dislike for George from the rest of the orginization.

Very well said. In the end, George doesn't win or lose it for the Yankees. It all about how the guys play as a team. The Marlins won the last series because they had a better team than the Yankees. Simple as that. It is all about the better team.

There was an interesting article in today's Chicago Sun-Times about him. It seems that the Cubs are very close to closing a deal with him and expect to announce later this week.

Yea, I think its gonna be the Cubs but Sports Writers say that its a chance that the Yankees can sweep him away by offering a better deal. $$

Cubs are offering him far less then what he has requested. I think it was 10 mill for 2 years and he wants 20 million. I believe it has also been raised to 14-15 million by the Cubs today.

You can't really blame the Yankees for this. I am not a Yankees fan by any means, but the blame should fall on Bud Selig. He is ruining the game of baseball. Without a salary cap, the rich will get richer. It's almost impossible for a small market team to stay competitive these days.

Bug Selig has no say in a salary cap. It is up to the owners.
