Eliza Fletcher: Police identify body found in search for heiress

Police in Tennessee say a body found on Monday is that of missing heiress Eliza Fletcher.

The 34-year-old mother-of-two was a teacher in the area, and the granddaughter of a local billionaire.

She was abducted while jogging early on Friday morning near the University of Memphis campus.

Cleotha Abston - a 38-year-old man with a previous conviction for abduction - has been charged with kidnapping and murdering Ms Fletcher.

Since when do most western prisons make ANY attempt to rehabilitate?  Finland does a good job, but most of the west? They don't even try... They just treat the inmates like animals, so is it really a surprise when they act like it on release?

And that's why violent offenders outside of a simple brawl should be locked away from society, for life. Abduction? Yeah, that should be a life sentence. Violent abduction at gun point? Even more. 

These people can't be rehabilitated. Drug use? Maybe. Non-consensual sex/Rape? Murder? Serial level offenses? Lock them up and throw away the key. There's a reason why sex offenders for example have to register upon release... there's a guy in my neighborhood who just got locked up for a third time over a sex crime. Unless Finland has some amazing ability to curb violent tendencies, I'm not sold on rehabilitation of serious offenses, and I certainly wouldn't turn my back on anyone released for said crimes.

News flash; this type of  predator can't be rehabilitated. They usually start showing aberrant  behaviors as children. Many are diagnosed with conduct disorder, essentially kiddy psychopathy. Serial killers in training.

 

We also have politically correct (<cough> progressive </cough>) prosecutors and judges who let violent offenders out on a low bail, after which they commit another violent crime. One recent example in Detroit was out on low bail for homicide. 

 

Rinse, wash, repeat. 

 

Very liberal San Francisco voters just recalled their  prosecutor for this nonsense. Good on 'em.

Many do try, but a I've noted before politicians on both sides cratered our psychiatric care system back in the 1970/80's. That experiment really hasn't gone very well.

There's a clear focus on rehabilitation in Quebec, Canada.
