Will This Work With My VR Headset?

Ok so long story short, the USB-C Port on my motherboard is loose. When ever I plug a USB-C cable into the port, the cable always becomes loose for some reason. The rear IO backplate on my computer is on just fine, so I don't understand how the cable becomes loose on that port. So I was thinking of purchasing a USB Add-In Card that also has USB-C as well as regular USB (3.0/3.2) and I come across this one https://www.amazon.com/YEELIYA-PCI-7-Port-USB-C-USB/dp/B08PF8XR73/ and figured I'd ask on here to make sure it would be ok to power my Oculus Quest 2 Headset.

Try using duct tape around the male plug to make a tighter fit.

 

But your suggestion will work, too..

Are you certain it is the USB C port and not the cable that is loose?

While it looks like the card you linked to should work, I would be concerned about how well it performs when the other USB ports on it are in use, as many USB cards tend to share bandwidth between all of the ports.  For this reason, I would suggest getting a USB expansion card with just a single USB-C port on it.

 

There isn't a lot of information available on the speed of the connection the Oculus Quest 2 Headset needs, but from looking around, I have seen reports that it requires a USB 3.2 Gen 1 connection (which is somewhat confusingly also called a USB 3.0 connection, as well as a USB SuperSpeed 5Gbps connection).

Looking around on Amazon, I found a several USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 PCIe cards which provide a single USB-C SuperSpeed 20Gbps connection:

• Ablecon PEX-UB159 USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 PCIe Card
• Innateck RedComets U27 USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 PCIe Card
• Orico USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 PCIe Card
• Silverstone Tech ECU06 USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 PCIe Card
• Startech PEXUSB321C USB 2.3 Gen 2×2 PCIe Card

Now, admittedly, all of these exceed the connection speed required by the Oculus Quest 2 Headset by a factor of four, but if you are interested in VR headsets and plan on using them in the future, getting an expansion card like one of the above can provide you with some "future-proofing" should a faster USB-C connection be required.

yes I am 99% sure the port on the back of my motherboard seems to be loose. Even with the slightest tug of the cable, it becomes loose and I lose my connection.
