Magnet ruin motherboard?

I’m doing a new build and am using a flexible flashlight to see what I’m doing and I forgot the end was a magnet and it stick to the back panel where the USB ports and stuff are. Will it be ok?

I think it everything should be, but you will find out sooner than later.

magnets have no real affect on motherboards, they aren't magnet sensitive

No problems using a magnetic screwdriver to secure the motherboard. It is recommended to keep them away from the drives though.

Thanks guys. Only have the motherboard mounted now. I have a Corsair water cooler and I’m deciding if I want to install that next or the  PSU, or if it matters. I’m using the Corsair icue 5000x case.

Water + electricity = bad. Consider what would happen if the AIO leaked, and mitigate by keeping it away from/below the PSU.

Not knocking your setup, but in my experience water cooling just isn't worth the hassle unless you're doing some extreme overclocking. I get most people do it for the look nowadays but I'm glad I never have to worry about the "ooops, will I ever have a leak" feeling anymore.

Same. I tried a Corsair H100i a few years ago, and ended up taking it out after a few months. I prefer to be safe in the knowledge my Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro won't leak water everywhere if it's having a bad day.

This is anecdotal, but I have used AIOs in many machines over the past 5 years and have never seen a leak. Even if they do, I believe that most (all?) AIOs are using a mixture of distilled water and Ethylene glycol. We have workstations at work with AIOs.

Unless you don't pay attention to your machine, you will probably survive a leak if you clean it up and replace the AIO.

Most of the leaks I've heard of have been custom solutions.

That said, today's air cooling is easily as effective and water cooling isn't quieter due to the fans used with the radiator, so it should really come down to personal preference.
