Installed Dymo Labelwriter, now the software closes 10 seconds after opening

I have a Dymo Labelwriter 450, it is powered up and plugged into the USB port. Device manager sees it, but when I open the Dymo  Connect software, I see the splash screen and then after about 10 seconds it just closes. It is running as admin, and no errors are given, and this is the latest version of the software just downloaded from Dymo directly. I can not figure out what could be causing the issue, and I have rebooted the system as a troubleshooting step.

Has it ever worked before with your system?
What other apps are running?
Any sort of endpoint security? 
Any "power user" mods applied to windows? (EG. tools such as O&O Shut Up)

I have never used it on this laptop

Firefox, and the other background OS programs, even without any programs except the OS, it still does not load

The printer is being detected in Device Manager, but I even moved the USB cord from the hub (powered) to the computer itself and no change. I have unplugged the power and USB from the printer and computer, plugged it back in and the Dymo software attempts to load (splash screen followed by crash to desktop.

Just to confirm, you are using Dymo Connect v1.3.2 for Windows 10 that's available for download from https://download.dymo.com/dymo/Software/DCDSetup1.3.2.18.exe on Dymo's website?

This is SO strange.  I got a request out of the blue today to develop against our suite of Dymo Labelwriter 450s today.

I will note that have just updated their software and it's broken lots of stuff.

Do you happen to know where I can get my hands on an older version? I suspect that is the issue

That did the trick! I guess newer is not always better when it comes to updates.

It seems there are some differences in the ways the DLLs are put together in the new version.  I have had to include dependencies I never did before.

In the newer version of the software, the driver for the labeller is built into the software.
