Looking for my old 286, can identify?

Recommended Posts

Found an image of an old system I used to own back in the day. It was a 286, but I can't recall of the brand. The keyboard i THINK was model M (from years back, not from the image.. I recall of the classic IBM badge on the keyboard), but the monitor was not IBM, had some dials under it for brightness, tint, etc... more interested (for now) what the system might have been. I don't believe it to be a generic case build, but an actual integrator. My best guess is Zenith Data Systems, but I've googled around and found nothing that matches. Definitely was not a Tandy as 8 year old me used Tandy's at school and compared them to my "IBM" (ibm compatible I guess.. we always just referred to our computer as "The IBM" to friends.)

There she is, the image of a 286 PC that is less discernable than a UFO sighting! What could it possibly be?  BTW, it had the classic IBM on/off switch on the right side (red switch with that satisfying clank and then you hear the hard drive spinning down)

Interesting.  I didn't know what I was doing early in my life.  I worked hard and got a 286 with a 287 math coprocessor for my engineering schoolwork when it was hot snot, then I upgraded to a 486/100MHz, and I've pretty much been running things near the top of the line now.  I still have some old 5 1/4" floppies.  Those were the days.

It almost looks like an IBM AT except they didn't have that black strip or whatever that is going all the way across the front. Some generic clone case I'm guessing.

Might help if we knew where you found that picture. Looks like it's a screencap from a VHS recording.

Thanks soooo much I am glad to get leads and answers. I'd love to try and get one soon if I can locate one and set aside some funds. You folks is the best. That's GOT to be it, or a variation anyway. The monitor I think is exact too, with the 5 knobs and even the rectangle power button. Holly smokes this is it boys!!!!
