Is The Intel ARC good for gaming?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm looking to get a laptop upgrade from my old and

Now, I have to also say that I'm a gamer and I like to play games and I have to use my laptop.
My laptop has terrible battery and feels not instantly responsive even on a couple of chrome tabs. I always have to use file cleanup and optimize disk to get it to feel faster.

Can anyone suggest me?

Depends

Intel has designed arc for "modern" DX12, and Vulcan and performs well with games that use these technologies.

If it's DX 9/10/11, and OpenGL games, Intel been working hard on improving the drivers, and making progress.

Essentially older games could be hit or miss.

The laptops your looking at, are they the Arc 3xx series or the 7xx series, what's your budget looking like?

I have the Yoga 7i w/12700 and arc a370m. It is Ok, but not a powerhouse. Games like GTA V will run and play, but I had to lower a lot of the settings to get 60fps. all high settings checked, I was only pulling ~25 average.

Bought this for work and running VM's, so pleasantly surprised it can handle light gaming.

Can you suggest some other? I am literally fade up. What should I do, am confused.

as much as I want to support ARC the drivers and control panel need a LOT of maturing. the control panel isn't even an app; they implemented it as an overlay so it disappears when you click away which is stupid when you're trying to adjust things and test.

DX11 and back have terrible FPS stability with frequent dips and stutters. Even DX12 titles aren't up to par with AMD/Nvidia right now

again I REALLY want to believe in this new competition but Intel has a long road ahead of them where driver optimizations are concerned :/

(source: have been keeping up with LTT and they did a thorough few reviews/trials of the cards)

as of right now I'd be looking at the AMD RX7000 series cards; they really seem to be the best bang for your buck right now. Should be interesting to see what the mid range cards are like once announced sometime soonish

i mentioned some available products below best for gaming.

1.Dell G3 15: This laptop has a 9th generation Intel Core i7 processor and an NVIDIA GTX 1650 graphics card, which provides smooth performance for gaming.

2.Lenovo Legion Y540: This laptop features a 9th generation Intel Core i7 processor and an NVIDIA RTX 2060 graphics card, making it well-suited for gaming and other demanding applications.

3.ASUS TUF Gaming Laptop: This laptop has a 9th generation Intel Core i7 processor and an NVIDIA RTX 2060 graphics card, providing powerful performance for gaming and other demanding tasks.

4.Acer Predator Helios 300: This laptop has a 9th generation Intel Core i7 processor and an NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti graphics card, providing solid performance for gaming and other graphics-intensive tasks.

5.HP Omen: This laptop has a 9th generation Intel Core i7 processor and an NVIDIA RTX 2070 graphics card, which is a great combination for gaming and other demanding tasks.

Please keep in mind that the above-mentioned laptops are just some examples, you should do your own research and compare different models based on your budget and specific needs.

Intel's best card, the a770, is round the same performance as the Radeon 6600 XT and RTX 3060 / 3060 Ti. In both of the later cards, you have better driver support and game comparability. If you can find a 770 for under MSRP, they would be good for up to 1440p gaming. 1080p gaming would be any of the 3 you can find the cheapest. if you want anything better that 1440p gaming, intel should not be considered and you should look at the 6700+ on AMD or 3070+ on nVidia. Both of there next gen cards (7xxx and 40xx) will outperform any of Intel's offerings.
