Sir Topham Hatt
I really like password-less sign in methods but just making sure that 2FA is ALWAYS two methods to sign in? IE: A password and some authenticator app? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1426197-2fa-always-two-methods-to-sign-in/ Share on other sites
+DonC Subscriber² Posted February 23, 2023 Subscriber² Share Posted February 23, 2023 It's literally "two factors". It's often: Something you know (e.g. a password) Something you have (a thing that produces codes or has a button you can press, etc.) I don't think there's anything particularly wrong about using a password manager to take away the burden of remembering passwords because those passwords are going through the computer anyway. Also, they can produce and manage entropy that you as a human generally can't do. +Warwagon and Good Bot, Bad Bot 2 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1426197-2fa-always-two-methods-to-sign-in/#findComment-598800610 Share on other sites
Dick Montage
To elaborate on what DonC correctly said it's two factors of authentication. It COULD be voice and fingerprint, password and confirmation of an authenticator app, a special knock on a door and a codeword. That's all.
