Care to guess? Unknown part...

Recommended Posts

Okay... since there's no better place to ask a one of a kind question than this forum... I've been racking my brain about this for a couple days now.

I never used this... and for the life of me, I cannot remember what it was ever meant to be for. Hell, I cannot even remember if it came with some conversion kit, or my PC case. I attempted to use Google Lens, which has been pretty decent in the past identifying odd objects, but sadly, no go here.

Anyone else have one of these to help me ID?

Sounds like a plan. Thank you.

Oh, that can actually be a water cooling pump, now I think of it..

It's hollow, and has a single screw mount. It really is a curious thing... found it most curious that Google doesn't have a picture of it anywhere.

I did.

It was quickly deleted by the moderators. I guess my "what's this thing" didn't fit their "what's this thing" well enough.

Well I tried an image search via Google lens, and that didn't return anything.

Nor did mine. I may not have taken the best pics of the object. Unfortunate that there are no other markings... not even a company stamp.

Can we get a better picture of the inside, please? Just seeing the otside doesn't tell us much.

Also, what type of connector is that coming out of the thing? Hence your firt pic.

They didn't give you any reason?

I checked the guidelines briefly and this item should qualify. Only thing I could think of is maybe they didn't like the title?

Edit: maybe the new pics you took would fare better if you tried posting again. However I would try messaging the mods first and ask them directly about your post removal.

Ah Reddit, the place where for no reason they don't like you or your post... or there are stupid requirements like answer 10 questions before you can ask your own....

Myself having been a mod/admin on many forums... you know as well as I do what happens when you question a mod's coffee induced panic attack when they see a post and instantly delete it without cause or explanation. 🤣

I followed all those guidelines... only to come back the next day and see "this information is no longer available" and the post was deleted. I can try again with these photos, but as Neufuse says:

Exactly.

And taboo subjects may be taboo here... but there, at least that side of reddit you get answers to your questions. It's the legit areas that have a thousand rules, rituals and sacrifices you have to make to get an answer.

Ask on Walmart's reddit, they treat you like you're on the predator registry... go to the dark side and ask about how to hack your Switch, and they line up at the door to give you all kinds of helpful advice. I mean, how do you explain why and how honest people are such a-holes to each other, but the anarchists and pirates are supportive? 😈

Looks like some sort of spacer or adjustment block.

I'm trying to remember whether or not it came in one of my CPU water cooling setups.

I originally bought a single fan/cooler setup for my FX8350. When I went to the Ryzen 7, I got MSI's twin fan cooler setups.

That's the only thing I can recall that would have had something like this in it. Unfortunately, both were purchased well over a year ago, and not a single brain cell has access to the memory of either.

Where does he state it came in the computer box?

In the first post.

"I cannot even remember if it came with some conversion kit, or my PC case."

It came in some kind of conversion kit... either with a water cooler for the CPU, or along with my computer case, a Thermaltake View 71, but I went thru all the accessories for that case and don't see it there.

This is what I was going by. I apologize for the confusion.

No worries.

It just seems like a common thing people would run into if they bought what I did... seems more common for people such as myself to forget anything or everything deemed irrelevant at the time.

I'm curious what it's supposed to hold.  I'm guessing the front tab gets screwed down to something and it's designed to rotate.  My first thought was something for a cube camera. Not sure what the tab on the side is for though.

I can't think of anything PC related that would need the ability to rotate.
