upgrade eth0 on precision 7510

this laptop is still going strong,  i upgraded the wifi to AX, but the wired card seems to be funky... test servers of 10Gbit fills up the 1gbit fiber i have , but the upstreams are maxing out at around 60MB/s

its an discontinued laptop, so not sure if this upgrade is even possible, but maybe someone can pitch in?

whcih network adapter can I buy tat will upgrade the performance of the standard one ( Intel i219LM)

Being a laptop, generally most ports are soldered to the board. I did a quick google search and it looks like this is true for the "Dell Precision 7510". Source: https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/671471/Any+way+to+replace+the+ethernet+jack 

Given this, the best you can do is use a USB (2|3) to Ethernet Adapter since I assume this laptop is too old for USB-C.

From looking at the Dell Precision 7510 Service Manual it appears the LAN Option Module (aka the Ethernet adapter) is soldered, as @Sikh noted.

From looking at its spec sheet, some models came with an optional Thunderbolt 3 interface, which means you could add an external 10GbE Ethernet adapter like these models from CalDigit, OWC, and Sonnet.

Another option would be a USB to 2.5GbE Ethernet.  There are many models of these but you would want to make sure it was one with a USB Type A connector for use on one of the notebook computer's four SuperSpeed 5Gbps (aka USB 3.0) ports.

this laptop it well spec, apart from a webcam, it has everything.

so i think your suggestion to add an adapter to the thunderbolt port is the way to go
