How do make a monitor use a specific gpu?

Hi,

 

I've got a new gaming laptop. It has an AMD internal cpu/gpu (AMD Ryzen R9-7940HS) as well as a dedicated gpu (NVIDIA RTX 4070). I've never had a split gpu situation before because I usually use a PC and turn off the internal gpu anyway.

 

I have it attached to 2 external displays.

 

The laptops display is running on the internal gpu.

My middle monitor, connected via usb-c, is also running on the itnernal gpu.

However the farside monitor connected via hdmi runs off the dedicated gpu. This is the model of this monitor: https://www.dell.com/ae/business/p/dell-u2515h-monitor/pd

When I open nVidia control panel only the farside monitor shows up in any of the options. This is the model of the middle monitor: https://www.benq.eu/en-eu/monitor/gaming/ex2780q.html

When I open AMD Adrenalin it shows the laptop display and the middle monitor. But not the far side monitor.

 

I'm reluctant to disable the internal gpu so is there a way to get all monitors running off the internal gpu for non-gaming use? When I'm playing a game it'll switch to the dedicated gpu as I'd want.

 

I'm on Windows 11.

I'm not sure what you mean, but..

To help this along, what version of Windows 11 do you have? Do you have latest drivers for internal and dedicated cards?

There may be some software to help you with that, but not sure..

Basically Monitor 1 & 2 are showing as being driven by the iGPU, monitor 3 is showing as being driven by the dGPU, he wants all monitors to be driven by the dGPU.

 

Would be helpful to know the Make/Model of the laptop as well, the manufacture may have software that allows switching the ports to direct to different gpus.

Why?

I would. That internal 780M can't hold a candle to the 4060.. and even though the internal supports up to four monitors, the dedicated GPU isn't going to drag the system down when it's not doing 3D/encoding work. 

And wouldn't it get a touch irritating to remember to change your cards going from one to the other? Just curious, really... but I'm with Matthew S., here, in that the model of the machine helps a bunch. That way, we can at least see the options there are in a card's given control app.
