bikeman25
Well did try running memtest86, but the temp for CPU started climbing pretty quickly--so i decided to end it, before the system overheated. Was 69C when i started, then got to 90C before i decided to end it. Windows Memory Diagnostic passed though. I'll check the event logs more tomorrow, late here now, and tired, so think just gonna get this main desktop ready for bed, and myself ready for bed, and try to get some sleep and not worry about this much more tonight Other Household Member turned off the A/C and i didn't know, i'm lucky the bigger machines don't experience over heating issues, but so far they haven't as yet Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1431100-odd-bsod-crashes-on-a-newer-mini-pc/#findComment-598834405 Share on other sites
hellowalkman Reporter Posted July 8, 2023 Reporter Share Posted July 8, 2023 What's the BSOD error code? They can be helpful sometimes. Also like someone else pointed out, checking the error logs can also help. Finally, is it also BSODing in safe mode? Also try running y-Cruncher memory test in single-thread mode. This will help you test the RAM in Windows without the CPU overheating. Inside y-cruncher, use the "Benchmark Pi (All in RAM)" option and then choose "Single-threaded". bikeman25
Bsod information that i briefly seen was Critical Processs died, its not creating dumps due to some sort of error. Video adapter temp that is integrated with Ryzen 3 3200U Processor even after 1 minute into the Operating system is between 69C-79C that i noticed Originally unboxed that little mini Pc and set it up on my folding table upstairs and til i had dedicated monitor with HDMI available for that Little Mini PC was using it with the Television with Zero Crashes, set it up on its actual desk, with Monitor, and everything--crashes start, of course that desk isn't the greatest for airflow even for her old Tower that was in dedicated Tower area It could be crashing from a simple overheating issue? though it also can be ram and will do the other Ram test asap here, and hopefully sheds some light on actual cause and then i can go about fixing it Thats 1 Minute after loading into OS and before it crashed this screenshot hellowalkman 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1431100-odd-bsod-crashes-on-a-newer-mini-pc/#findComment-598834468 Share on other sites
DPyro
CPU shouldn't be more than 50C idle. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1431100-odd-bsod-crashes-on-a-newer-mini-pc/#findComment-598834517 Share on other sites

bikeman25
Well Re Pasting CPUs/heatsinks is something i'm not that great at lol. I hope it's just some other issue causing it to go up that high, and once i figure out what is causing the crashing, that it goes away. I did not have this when i first unboxed it and used it with my Television upstairs here at all, it ran very very good for the time i used it setting it up with out of box experience, doing all the updates.. Finally got a Monitor to work with it, HDMI, set it up on a spot on that desk, and stupid thing started crashing a ton the first time set it up on that desk Either that desk has very very bad airflow or something... i'll get a picture of Desk setup spot hopefully in morning, but i thought that spot i set it up on the desk wouldn't be too bad it's right near the doors on that desk, as most open spot i could get to considering all the wiring for keyboard, mouse, and such Unless i move it, and set it up on top of her Old Desktop Tower lol--if the power cord would reach from the Outlet to that spot, and i know keyboard and mouse would reach and most likely the HDMI cable possibly would, i guess i'll see in morning as it's getting late here now Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1431100-odd-bsod-crashes-on-a-newer-mini-pc/#findComment-598834528 Share on other sites
cork1958
How newer is that mini PC? If still under warranty, I'd return it for a new one or money back. farmeunit
Max temp is 105. So, while it's warm, it shouldn't hurt anything. Technically, they should throttle before doing any damage. BSoDs can be caused by many things. Typically RAM, but sectors on a hard drive and drivers too. Not always newest drivers. I have seen some drivers from Windows Update cause them, as well. Look in event logs and see what you see. Sometimes that will help if they aren't getting logged as a BSoD. We have laptops, for example, that crash with that Critical Process Died, and removing the TouchPad driver fixes it. Every version of that driver causes it on a percentage of the laptops. Not all. Also, are you using the drivers specifically for that model, or getting the component drivers from individual manufacturer? Say NIC driver from who makes it? bikeman25
Drivers were from Windows Update, i couldn't' find Drivers from BosGames site, mind you i did extract the drivers from original install onto my WD Red External, so it should have as factory drivers as i can get--even went thru Device Manager and updated drivers in there and pointed it to the WD Red External Drivers folder--so should have hopefully same drivers as when it was unboxed, i did do a 2nd clean install hoping that would fix it, but no luck wireless driver i got directly from Intels site, and Bluetooth driver anyhow rather not spend my days troubleshooting constantly lol, but will til this problem solved fully hopefully Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1431100-odd-bsod-crashes-on-a-newer-mini-pc/#findComment-598834577 Share on other sites

That Mini PC is less than 3 weeks old, but problem with returning it i don't have a receipt to use for return, this was a giveaway via a tech youtuber, direct shipped from Amazon this one was. I will get the BSODs fixed at some point, even if i have to spend my own money and replace the M.2 SSD and Ram myself eventually--or as soon as i can afford to Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1431100-odd-bsod-crashes-on-a-newer-mini-pc/#findComment-598834587 Share on other sites

Their Amazon page claims it's got lifetime support and a one year warranty. Even if you weren't the original owner I'd check with the people that built the machine. bikeman25
Yeah already sent a support ticket email into BosGame, and haven't gotten a response as yet. Will look into updating AMD drivers directly from AMDs site as well. Meanwhile on holding pattern at this point i suppose Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1431100-odd-bsod-crashes-on-a-newer-mini-pc/#findComment-598834591 Share on other sites
Mindovermaster Global Moderator Posted July 9, 2023 Global Moderator Share Posted July 9, 2023 I was actually considering getting a BosGame, but I've seen too many bad reviews on Amazon. And they don't have any professional reviews on it.. bikeman25
Well at first it was running just fine when i briefly used it on Temporary folding table, then sadly started crashing for some reason---but i'll do all i can to get it solved hopefully, and should be good then Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1431100-odd-bsod-crashes-on-a-newer-mini-pc/#findComment-598834595 Share on other sites
