DYMO LabelWriter 450 not being detected

Recommended Posts

So, yesterday I tried to print a label on my label printer and it suddenly popped a message stating that there was an error with the printer. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, and attempted to print again, still got the same error. I pulled the USB cord and plugged it into another port, and still nothing. Today I deleted the printer and uninstalled the software. I then reinstalled it and attempted to print again, still getting the same error. At this point, I have no idea what is going on. I have checked the device manager and there is no listing for the label printer. I downloaded the latest software from Dymo and they have a message stating that there is a known issue with a previous Windows update and to make sure that this update is installed, and I double-checked, and it is indeed installed, I have rebooted the system a few times and it still refuses to print. What more can I check?

Have you tried a different USB cable? If possible try plugging it into a different computer. Also, try unplugging it from the power for a few mins and plug it back in.

No, it's a different type of USB cable, USA-A to USB-B 3.0  and I don't have any others. As for power, I unplugged it for 30 seconds or so and plugged it back in

I assume its Windows 11 that's causing trouble, For Windows 11, go to the Dyno website and get the latest software, and it should work after install. I'm sticking with Windows 10 and 87.4 does it for me. I've tried 11 and compared to 10, 11 leaves a lot to be desired.

Also make sure you're using the correct software the DYMO Connect for the 450 doesn't work/communicate with that hardware you have to use the older version DLS8Setup.8.5.4 thats the (DYMO Label Software 8.7.4)

Hope that helps. Keep us posted.

Where do I get this? If you tried to post a link, it did not work.

You installed the DYMO Connect v1.3.2.18 correct?

https://www.dymo.com/compatibility-chart.html

The 450 is listed as supported for Windows 7-11.

No, I downloaded the latest version:  DCDSetup1.4.3.131

I mean, if I was troubleshooting, I would try what the compatible checker lists...which is v1.3.2.18 for your model/Windows version.

....but that's just me.

OK, I downloaded and installed the older version, but now it does not load the program. I get the splash screen and then nothing. I have watched, and the Dymo process never loads, the only Dymo that is running is the print spooler

Just to confirm the software you're using is in fact

DYMO Label Software 8.7.4

and NOT

DYMO Connect for Windows v1.4.3

First question, do you get an audible beep from Windows to alert you that it has detected a new device? If not you've got a dodgy USB cable in all likelihood. Had a similar issue under Win 10, Windows should install the drivers automatically, with the software suite given you the address book from memory.
