USB-C splitter for MagSafe charging & 'regular' usage. Is it available?

Recommended Posts

I have a Satechi TYPE-C Multi-Port Adapter 4K Ethernet Space Grey v2  connected to my computer.

I tried to connect a belkin MagSafe charger to it, but my iPhone won't charge [when I put it directly in teh USB-C port of my notebook it works]. I guess the power isn't sufficient.

Is there a USB-C splitter available to which I can connect this MagSafe charging cable, AND make use of the Satechi adapter [not for only charging mouse and mousepad (RGB) & maybe in the future also an external HDD/SSD).
Or is the layout/working of USB-C not compatible with this setup?

Which splitter to use in this case?

Hello,

USB-C splitters and extension cables are specifically disallowed by the USB spec.  Magnetic "breakaway" adapters are not mentioned, from what I recollect, but they are not recommended due to issues with ESD, signalling, and possible electrocution hazard (latest USB Power Delivery specification supports 240W).

That said, I would suggest reaching out directly to Satechi explaining what you would like to do, and see if they can recommend a solution that meets your needs.
