Elliot B.
It's a PC Specialist SkyFire / MSI GE40-based system. Full specifications below: 14" 1920×1080 (16.7m colors, IPS, matte, WLED-backlit) (BOE NV140FHM-N62 panel) MSI MS-1492 motherboard Intel Core i7-4712MQ (4C8T, 37W) (2014) 1x 8 GB DDR3L-1600 (PC3-12800) RAM (Kingston ValueRAM, SO-DIMM, Non-ECC, CL11) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M (2 GB VRAM, 40W) (2014) Samsung 840 EVO SSD (120 GB, SATA III, 2.5") (2013) Western Digital Black HDD (750 GB, SATA III, 7,200 RPM, WD7500BPKX) Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet (2013) Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260HMW (Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) + Bluetooth 4.0) (2013) Realtek ALC269 audio (2009) 3 MP webcam Integrated 2-in-1 memory card reader (SD, MMC) 6-cell lithium-ion battery 90W AC power adaptor My thought are, whilst the CPU can easily be bested these days by lower-end mid-range laptops, the GPU is still faster than basically all Intel iGPUs or AMD Vega iGPUs, even with its 2 GB VRAM. Mindovermaster Global Moderator Posted November 19, 2023 Global Moderator Share Posted November 19, 2023 First I would up the RAM. Dual channel is a whole lot better. AFAIK, it should have 2 memory slots. (Sorry if it doesn't) As for price, I would put it as $250. Others will say different, but that's my view. ThaCrip
Ill leave the details on prices for others (as I have not really followed this sort of stuff in years especially given I avoid laptops). but off the top of my head... -For general usage it's got to be more good than bad as I think at the very least it's a respectable laptop (although if I was going to use that as a primary use computer I would likely upgrade it to 16GB of RAM, but 8GB of RAM is still passable for many people). -For gaming... it's probably too weak for fairly recent games (say about the last 5-7 years). but anything around 10 years old or older it's probably passable even if you have to lower resolution one plays the games at. but personally... if I could not get 'at least' $50-100 out of it (it could be possible to get more but I can't imagine too much more given it's age etc), I would probably not even bother selling it unless you were desperate for some cash. Mockingbird
This laptop with a similar processor and video card, sold for $315. It does however have a bigger SSD and more memory. ASUS ROG Quad-Core Gaming Laptop-Intel i7 4710HQ-16GB RAM-512 SSD-GTX 850M | eBay Personally, I would upgrade the SSD and memory because those are cheap these days. ZakO
I'd be surprised if anyone paid over £150 for that... but then again, eBay has crazy people who even bid over RRP for products so who knows. Agreed on the price but not sure he can get a better return putting more RAM into it unless can score it for free. Yeah, I think Mindovermaster hit the price point but again don't think buying RAM and SSD retail is going to get you a good return. Sure if getting a really great deal or one piece free. hellowalkman Reporter Posted November 20, 2023 Reporter Share Posted November 20, 2023 I don't really see this selling for much TBH. I'd say around ~220$. Good Luck!!
