Hello,

This is the poll for the best motherboard manufacturers for AMD, IBM, and Intel processors.  Some of these companies sell complete pre-built systems as well as motherboards, but have a significant presence in the motherboard market.  Companies whose main focus is pre-built systems (i.e., Apple, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, etc.) are not included.  This poll is meant to cover only motherboards as used by Neowin's members to build their own systems.  The previous year's poll can be found here.

We have included some manufacturers which are regional as well as those that specialize in commercial motherboards, as Neowin's membership is global and some of you build systems for business as well as home use.

This poll is multiple choice, in case you have more than one favorite.  Feel free to share favorite motherboard model(s) as well.

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky

Either ASUS or ASRock (technically they're the same company..)

I have used Gigabyte in the past. But I'm kind of shying away from it.

I have an ASUS motherboard, but after their recent warranty shenanigan, I'm not sure if I will buy them again next time. I just recommended MSI to my friend for his new build.

Biostar is mostly known for their cheap and entry level motherboards.

But they also have expensive motherboards.

They used to be a lot more common in the west but at some point they scaled back and mostly do business in the east now.

Biostar is also available in some European countries. I think Biostar is better quality than Gigabyte.

In terms of price/quality ratio, I think ASRock/Biostar/MSI are the three best choices.

ASUS is probably also good, but often a bit more expensive in my country. I never buy ASUS myself.

Never used BIOStar. Even though I'm in the central US. I've seen their boards, but never used them.

ASUS, I used A LOT. Also their counter-part ASRock. ASRock used to be a budget board to ASUS, but lately, they have been getting a whole lot better.

I have used ASRock, Biostar and MSI.

If I have to compare my new Biostar motherboard that I bought with the new ASRock motherboard that I bought, then Biostar is generally seen on par.

Advantages from my ASRock motherboard

- Better sound (They use the same Realtek driver but the ASRock board had Nahimic audio. In Linux the ASRock board has better sound as well.)

- Micro/Mini USB connection

- soft foam behind USB/display/audio connection panel

- integrated Wi-Fi

Advantages from my Biostar motherboard

- supports more RAM capacity

- 30 dollar cheaper

- supports more M2 slots + more USB slots

- I prefer their BIOS software, I would say it's better organized (and it's reliable)

- has 2.5 GB ethernet when my newer ASRock board has 1 GB ethernet

The ASRock A620I LIGHTNING WIFI is not suitable for my case.

The ASRock B760M-ITX/D4 WiFi is currently widely sold and is a recent ASRock motherboard, but it does not have 2.5 GB ethernet.

Biostar B660T-SILVER is (+-) the same price in my country but it has 2.5 GB ethernet.

I simply compared two recent motherboards I use. Every motherboard has different features,

I want to point out that Biostar has competitive products that are no worse than the competition in terms of price/quality ratio.

ARGB 5V LED header is also missing on the ASRock B760M-ITX/D4 WiFi and it's a popular feature.

Biostar B660T-SILVER has PCIe 5.0.  ASRock B760M-ITX/D4 WiFi ?
