Watched Civil War yesterday. Good movie about journalism. Don't get fooled by the movie title it's not really about a civil war.  There's no explanation about why there's a conflict and no side is really presented as the bad guy. It's really about journalism and the importance of journalism in war time. As a side quest the movie explore a bit how things can degenerate when there's no laws enforced by authorities but that's surface level at best and very brief.

Watched the same last night and was pleasantly surprised. Kirsten Dunsts` acting in this is spot on and the film wen`t by pretty quick (normally a good sign). 7.5/10, worth the watch...

p.s. I`d watch your film, if only to cure insomnia...

Deadpool & Wolverine

7/10 ... I thought the story was a bit convoluted (that whole multiverse, TVA crap)...but lots of gore and language (The House of Mickey surprised me) and many laughs. Recommended!

Deadpool & Wolverine

6/10         I wasn't impressed with all the vulgar language, it wasn't needed. Take away 99% of the swearing and i'd recommend the movie !

Trap, eh, 6/10 if I had to give it a score.  It gets some points because it actually gives us the bad guys POV for most of the movie, but not much else going on with it tbh.   Not something I'd bother watching a second time.

Fly Me To The Moon 10/10 Brilliant, funny.

Starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum,  stylish romantic comedy set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA's historic Apollo 11 moon landing.

I was thinking of watching that but after I saw your post yesterday I decided not to. At least not for now.

Thanks :)

Well, I knew it wasn't going to turn out well but I gave it a shot and watched the new Crow reboot, or whatever you want to call that thing.  So bad, I'm not even going to give it a score.   The old Crow tv series is better than this thing.   I hate myself now.

Alien Romulus...

So from the start, I really liked it.  The worldbuilding fit alongside the plot, so it felt valid and not shoehorned in.  But...

  • Does it ADD anything to the overall Alien franchise?  It FITS nicely, but what does it ADD that we don't already know?
  • It felt a bit like towards the end, it had become "yet another space thriller", and almost wandering into Alien: Resurrection territory
  • Does it stand-alone as an entry into the Alien franchise?  I'm not convinced that it does.  Nor that it stands alone as it's own "addition"; I feel like it needs expansion to be a worthwhile addition.

Borderlands

Trash!  Just... so...

Imagine that the first Guardians Of The Galaxy were a Play-Doh mold.  Rag-tag group, rogue-like characters, flawed but funny, self-referential, etc.

But then instead of filling that mold with Play-Doh, you crammed it full of runny, yellow, stinking baby-poop.  Leave it for a few days to settle.  Open the mold.  There you have Borderlands.

1/10

Alien Romulus : ok, a lot to say about it, but won't cuz spoilers for people. Biggest annoyance is (as with a lot of films these days) characters you don't care about. Some good ideas, some BAD cgi, easter eggs for the older gen.... 5/10

Oddity : FREAKY!!!! thats all i'll say on that one. After all the hype around LONGLEGS (which I watched directly before seeing Oddity), this film is weirder and betterererer!! 7/10

Deadpool & Wolverine,  7/10 as a movie, 8/10 if you're a big fan of the old Fox X-men stuff.  There's a nice little farewell video in the credits with loads of behind the scenes footage from all the Fox movies, as a nice little send off.   As I say that though, they did like to clown on Fox in the process throughout the movie, but it's all good.

the action is fine, overall, but at this point they love to use slow-mo and pack in different CGI elements so it's kind of "eh".   Still nice and bloody, as it should be.

Alien Romulus,  7/10.  It's going back to the old formula, sort of.  We already know so much about what's going on, so nothing is really a surprise anymore.   Still, it's not bad, it's just a mix of Alien and Alien 3 in a sense.

Just saw joker 2, thought it was excellent. Dunno why it's getting such bad reviews

Political reason probably.

Sadly 90% of movie reviews these days are politically motivated.

Watched the Kate Beckinsale film "Canary Black" on Amazon a few days ago. Pretty run of the mill assassin type film, but its got the late Ray Stevenson in it, so its not all bad... 6/10

Last night after going out for my birthday meal, I got back and watched "Independence Day". Visuals are a bit rough these days, but still a fun film to watch!

Kate Beckinsale and Ray Stevenson? I'll have to give it a watch...

I watched Terrifier the other day. Don't expect anything, it does what you think it would do. Although jesus,:

Spoiler

that scene with the girl getting cut in half while hanging upside down was pretty horrific!

Art the clown is pretty unnerving even when there's no gore going on, too...

I dont think I can unfollow without leaving a comment.. so, erm... The Substance, its now my most favourite movie ever. So corrupt, so visceral, typifies the Hollywood Experience™ - Demi Moore deserves many awards for this, she's so good!
