Recommended Posts

Monitor is Asus VG249Q1R

Connected via Displayport right now @144Hz    I could goto 165Hz if i turned on Overclock Mode in Monitor settings (not sure if thats a good or bad idea)

Video card: Geforce 1660 Super

Windows 11 Pro x64

Games Played

Secondlife

Battlefield 2042

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit  Remastered

American Truck Simulator

Euro Truck Simulator 2

Wreckfest

Forza Horizon 5

Firefighter Simulator :The Squad

(first time ever having monitor capable of either 144Hz or 165Hz ever in my Computer lifetime)

Ok  Stays with Recommended speed as is then,  shortening its life is not something interested in doing i realize now for sure.

Thank you for your prompt reply

Exactly, what MoM said.. Unless you are getting over 144 FPS in those games (you're not), you don't need 165Hz.

Just turn on adaptive sync and VRR (variable refresh rate) in Windows and it will adjust the refresh rate to match the game.

It's a feature of the monitor...so why not?  Does the manual warn of decreased lifespan or other potential issues overclocking it?  No?  Probably because the hardware was designed for it.

....doubt you'll be able to tell the difference though.

Honestly i haven't looked at the Manual of the Monitor, but i imagine it doesn't warn possibly,  actually opens the Monitor PDF Manual in a moment here.     But honestly your right i probably couldn't tell the difference anyways even if i did use the full Refresh rate capabitilies

That is the only warning that is in the Manual regarding The Max Refresh Rate/Overclocking to 165Hz if desired

Oh ok,  Stays right where currently set at then lol.

Thank you all for the replies in this matter

Reason setting up Refresh rate again with Monitor despite getting it back in July 2023,  as had to use Macrium Reflect Restore to fix issue with Bluetooth was having with system---so  making sure all settings proper this time around lol, and think gonna avoid using Revo Uninstaller on install this time, and prays Bluetooth issue never returns lol again, though i did see it once in 2021 as well, probably 6 months after first installing Windows 11 Pro lol.

*Originally used Overclock, but thought maybe that was why secondlife was acting up back in late November prior to Clean install then on 11/25/2023 lol, so turned that off in Monitor settings, and hoped would fix, but it didn't, so went with clean install, then imaged system with Macrium Reflect--definitely saved my butt that time*

Thankfully i had a image after my previous clean install to try and fix Secondlife Game issue, but i believe that is related to Comcast Xfinity Gateway Modem Firmware as i tried everything else to solve that issue lol
