TRS-80
Burgum befriended Ballmer while both were at Stanford and working on a project together in the late 1970s. Ballmer went on to work Microsoft. After graduating Stanford, Burgum started his own software company, Great Plains Software. In 2001 Microsoft bought Great Plains for $1.1 billion. Subsequent to the sale of Great Plains to Microsoft Burgum became a Micrsoft employee. He worked for Microsoft for a bit over five years before deciding to leave, to again start his own business. Satya was hired to replace Burgum. Burgum entered politics in 2016 and became governor of North Dakota. He won re-election in 2020. Burgum is now considered the leading candidate for Trump's VP pick. .
