Steven P. Administrators Posted July 15 Administrators Share Posted July 15 The only thing that worked for me was the Intel microcode 0x125 update BIOS (13.02) that just released for the Z790 PG-ITX/TB4 board and changing PL1 to 242, all other values are left at default in the BIOS (aside from XMP Profile 1). I tried many other tweaks including iccmax with @hellowalkmanbut the end result was either throttling or a lower score under 1900. I swapped out the AIO fans for Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000 PWM, they can get a bit loud under heavy CPU load though. I have them set to intake, with 2x Noctua NF-A12x15 PWM as exhaust on the bottom. The NR200P uses a Mesh side panel. I also purchased the be quiet! Silent Wings Pro 4 140mm PWM that run 400rpm slower at 100% and I'm debating whether to try them at this setting before I send them back for a refund because I mistakenly forgot to set one of the fans to UHS (only discovered it was only lowest setting when removing them). Would appreciate any advice from fellow i7-14700K users with this case. There's a dedicated sub on reddit for the NR200, I might post this there too. goretsky and hellowalkman 1 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1443863-finally-brought-temps-down-with-i7-14700k-in-nr200p-max-cb24-score-of-1908/ Share on other sites
hellowalkman Reporter Posted July 16 Reporter Share Posted July 16 I have to add that lowering iccmax value generally led to much more favorable temperatures. We tried raising the PL1 to 247 from 242 and it throttled immediately as the temperature increased by around 5 or 6°C, which means there is almost no PL headroom for us with this current setup. That wasn't the case with Iccmax. So if someone only wants to lower temperatures and does not mind slightly lower performance, then you are better off tinkering with Iccmax. Sulphy
I swapped out my AIO with the Silent Wings, and made a world of difference... i have the MSI Coreliquid S360 AIO... spent ages tweaking the curves for my fans, and have it set now to a point i can game, or transcoding using Handbrake, and barely hear the fans under heavy load... temps are decent, top out around 80c. I have the Corsair D7000 airflow case... monster!!! hellowalkman and Steven P. 2 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1443863-finally-brought-temps-down-with-i7-14700k-in-nr200p-max-cb24-score-of-1908/#findComment-598916566 Share on other sites
