I got a warning (my only one) in 2010 for missing putting a [tag] (like [joke], [pic], etc.) in front of a post in the jokes section.

It's been 14 years since and while the point has long since disappeared, that one warning remains on my profile.

Is this by design? Seems like a disproportionate thing to be saddled with for so long for what was effectively an educational notice then and has served no purpose since.

The Neowin supervisor who gave me the warning hasn't seemed to be active on Neowin since 2014.

To boot, the thing I was warned (tagging) for is missing on most current posts in the Jokes & Funny Stuff forum today.

It's mentioned here, but warning points expire 6 months after the warning is provided. However, the warning history remains. With that said, only the member and other staff members can see that warning history, no one else.

It helps staff members to easily review a situation that might occur. If someone received a warning years ago, depending on the reason for the warning there would be little reason for staff to take it into consideration for something that might be currently under review.

It's an administration thing, and it is there by design.

Just the one? You lucky, lucky bugger! ;)  I'd count mine but I ran out of fingers and toes... :p
