Steven P. Administrators Posted September 3, 2024 Administrators Share Posted September 3, 2024 Why is this still a thing? Monitor is Philips 49M2C8900 connected with HDMI PC is AMD 7900X3D, ASRock X670E Steel Legend. (BIOS 3.01, will be updating to 3.06 today for AMD AGESA 1.2.0.0a Patch A) Videocard ASUS ProArt 4080 SUPER 64GB Kingston Fury Renegade 6000MT/s DDR5 Certified 2m UGREEN Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable Windows 11 23H2 22631.4112 with 560.70 Nvidia drivers. There is even a setting for it in Display settings, but after unlocking my PC DesktopEarth live wallpaper becomes tiled and all my open programs are reduced to small windows on the left side of the screen. I am forced to use PersistentWindows to reset to how I left it. Why am I forced to rely on a 3rd party program for something that should work in Windows? I am not even on a multi monitor setup? goretsky Supervisor Posted September 3, 2024 Supervisor Share Posted September 3, 2024 Hello, I realize this is a somewhat rhetorical question, but as a guess, I would imagine the problem still occurs is because many of the developers responsible for this functionality likely run two identical monitors (in terms of screen size, native resolution and refresh rate). As a result, they do not trigger the condition(s) which lead to this (i.e., running across monitors with different DPIs and native screen resolutions). Because of this, plus whatever their telemetry tells them are the highest-priority bugs to be bucketed, the problem does not get prioritized for a fix and/or the fix gets moved to a later release. At least, that's my guess as to why it has not yet been fixed.
