Can't Enable Neowin Push Notifications in Edge/Samsung Internet

Recommended Posts

Hey Neowin team,

Over my years of keeping up with news on Neowin, I haven't been able to enable the browser push Notifications for news notifications, at least not in Samsung Internet on my Smartphone nor Edgium on my Surface Pro. Initially, when I attempt enabling it, browser shows a permission request for sending notifications; I accept it, but Neowin doesn't seem to get the feedback that I've granted it permission to send me notifications, it remains forever showing the following:

I'm sure it's been granted the permission as it's listed in my browser notifications whitelist, but it's my only site that doesn't notice I've enabled the permission:

Interestingly, I get notifications from the forums, but not for new news articles. What's going on?

We don't support Push notifications for the news side, it's a forum feature.

Have you tried subscribing to this forum https://www.neowin.net/forum/forum/266-front-page-news/  and allowing push notifications for whenever a new news post is added to the main page?

I guess that would be the workaround for push notifications for news!

That forum does appear to be a workaround for news push notifications, but it appears to also include reader comments on those articles...any way to filter it to just the news post?

Ok, the issue appears to still persist even when I'm trying to get notifications only from the Forums. I went into my Edgium Notification Settings, removed Neowin, then tried enabling it again via Neowin Notification Options. It's still just showing "Enabling" forever:
