Lots of functionality, including handling text messages. +virtorio MVC Posted October 24 MVC Share Posted October 24 Are they using the same service that you're using, as they need to to be in the case of WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. If you're looking for a tool to send SMS text messages you could use Phone Link (as Max Norris suggested) or, if you use Google Messages on your phone, you can use Google Messenger for web - https://messages.google.com/. Max Norris
Another one I used to use before Phone Link became a thing was Pushbullet. Not free but reasonably priced, like 39 for a year if I recall. Nowhere near as fancy as Phone Link and it's confined to your browser, but still worked very well for SMS and notification handling and not a Windows exclusive. I've given it up a while back for Phone Link but if that wasn't an option I'd likely go back to it. goretsky Supervisor Posted October 25 Supervisor Share Posted October 25 Hello, Have you checked to see if their phone carrier has an email-to-SMS gateway? If so, you may be able to send messages that way. For example, AT&T's gateway is the phone number plus @txt.att.net, so if the person you wish to text has AT&T and their phone number is (800) 555-1212, you could send them a SMS message at 8005551212@txt.att.net. Similar services exist for T-Mobile (8005551212@tmomail.net) and Verizon (8005551212@vtext.com), and you can likely find other carriers by searching for "mail to SMS for $CARRIER_NAME" in your preferred search engine.
