Site Compatibility with Brave Browser

Recommended Posts

I switched to the Brave browser from Chrome a few weeks ago for a few reasons, and since then the front page of Neowin has been regularly losing theme and layout settings and resetting back to default, though the forums themselves have been fine.  Is this a known issue?

Brave modifies the site beyond our control, we do not code around Brave. We have a $28/year tier that is ad free and gives a couple other benefits.

We need to be able to monetize in order to keep the lights on, I hope you understand.

you can go into the Brave filter button (lion shield button thingy) and tell it to ignore Neowin and it should fix that issue. whats happening is its deleting the cookies and things that the page is setting to keep the theme. If you tell it to not do that, then brave will keep your settings working for you!

Oh, the site is whitelisted, has been from the start... I don't block ads for Neowin!  All of its shields are set OFF on here.  It still does it randomly though...

brave conforms to the chromium policy of clear local cookies every 30 days. I've reported the issue before and DaveLegg had to do something to work around it with the 'hide from minispy' filters. the fix never made it to the main page cookies though.

Ah, that would probably explain it, though it's more often than 30 days...  Thanks Brandon. :)
