Power plans deleted/hidden after a reboot [Armoury Crate / ASUS ROG]

Recommended Posts

I have an ASUS ROG machine with Armoury Crate installed.

For some reason the Windows Power Plans are not there after a reboot. Creating a new one, shows the previous one(s)  under 'Hide additional plans'. The settings of the "old" ones are still there, yet unavailable to select in the first place.
Is there a way to set these back for good to default values, and let them stay? Without uninstalling the Armoury Crate software.

Or is this some kind of bug between  Armoury Crate and the Power plans within Windows 11?

You seem to suffer issue after issue with your Windows installs.  Are you running anything that deviates the OS from stock?

Any weird registry cleaners, shell additions, etc?

I have Ccleaner installed for just the temp files everywhere. Not using it to clean up registry.

No third party shell additions/software installed.

A quick look shows that Armoury Crate doesn't have a great track record. Why do you need to have it installed?

I like to to monitor my temps & fan speed. Plus the button on my notebook has this handy fan speed adjustment and profiles that I thinks works only with Armoury Crate.

After uninstalling Armoury Crate I see the power plans back again... looks like it's been kinda faulty software indeed...

Looked for an alternative and G-helper on Github does the same job. Plus my power plans are still there.

EDIT:

When changing the fan speed via the buttons (on G-helper) the Power plan setting go to 'Balanced' and isn't changed back/"upgrade" when selecting/browsing through Balanced, Silent, Turbo.
Strange, that apparently this has an impact/influence and there is a relation between fan speeds and power plans in W11.
