I have a hp smart tank 7301 printer. I had it setup via wifi and it was was working fine. I could printer from any computer with no issues. I was having an issue with my router which verizon had to change to a different one. After changing the router and setting up a wifi extender, the printer is no longer visible to the network via wifi connection. When we setup this printer it is done through an HP smart app which isnt recognizing the printer.

Can someone who is knowledgable about these setups help me out with it plz.

Have you reset the network connection on the printer? This is from HP

Press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Cancel button on the printer until the Power button blinks. This resets the network settings and puts the printer into setup mode. Open the HP Smart app on your device. Follow the prompts to add a new printer and select your Wi-Fi network.

Also make sure Bluetooth is swithed on for the initial setup

When you connect to a new wifi network, windows ... at least on windows 11 put's it on the "Public" network without ever asking you like Windows 10 did. So annoying.

To put it on the Private network click start / settings / network & internet / Wifi / Your wifi access point and put the box in "private"

Might not be the issue but you can try it.

guys, i dont know what to do as that is the reason i am asking you guys. HP wont help as the want mymoney (shocker) eventhough i paid 400 for the damn printer.

Couldn't it be a IP issue? Being that it's pointing at your old router? And not your new one?

Have the manual for that printer? Section 6, page 44.

After thinking about this over night, does the network have to be setup iwth names for each device and also does it need to have a workgroup setup to work correctly? Previously, we just had to install the app in order to get the  printer to print. I noticed, I believe, that your is the Bat cave?

The Bat Cave is just a wifi name. As long as everything is connected to the same WiFi network it should see the printer.

First since that printer has practically no screen. You can try putting the printer into WIFi WPS mode. According to google AI you can try this

"To put your HP Smart Tank 7301 into WPS mode for easier wireless setup, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button on the printer control panel simultaneously for about 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi light blinks blue"

Then if your Verizon box has a WPS button push it or if it doesn't you'll have to log into the Web interface of the box and access WPS there.

Once you put the printer into WPS mode and push the button on the verizon box or in the web interface, after a few seconds the printer should be connected to the wifi.

After that you can run the software, or if the printer had been previously installed it might just start working again.

If not, check that public / private section I told you about and make sure it's on private.

You know when it was new and you joined it to your network?

Just do that again!

Also, “connected via Ethernet” not “hardwired”!
