xfodder
ok, back in 99 i was totally 'into' slipknot, basically because i was an angry teen and it was good for venting my anger, pretty much thats all their music is good for, if your not ****ed off, there isnt much to listen to. as for the 'percussionist' they play anything from regular drums to metal beer kegs, thats how they god some of the wicked drum sounds on the first album. the first album was very raw and unplanned to my ears, the second is good but it sounds more 'perfected', for some reason i dont think i will like the new album, im over my angry period, im listening to the likes of the sleepy jackson (aussie group) and jack johnson etc. i still listen to korn every now and again, but thats mainly for davis's lyrics, taylors lyrics are somewhat boring. my 2c edit: as for the masks, i think its getting old, besides most people have seen them without masks anyway, stone sour was pretty good, murder dolls was too 'hardcore' for my liking. biorK
Don't know if everyone already know this, but I'll post it anyway. In a forum Corey Taylor him self have posted som posts and announced a couple of things. *TOPIC*Excuse me, I have an announcement...? on: Mar 14th, 2004, 12:48pm ? On March 11th, 2004, Scarlett and I became Mr. and Mrs. Corey Taylor in a small ceremony @ the Botanical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. The wedding was small, attended only by family, both bands and a few friends. The reception was held @ the house, with karaoke carrying on until 4AM (we tried to get Mick to sing 'Safety Dance but he threatened to kill us all). Just thought I'd let you know we finally did it. Now we can fight like a proper couple... happily ever after in holy matrimony. And...*TOPIC*To everyone here... haters and lovers...? on: Mar 11th, 2004, 12:40pm ? Hello from the camp that brought you puke and ****! I've been cruising around and reading some of your posts about this and that, and all I'll say is this: Do what you want, say what you want. As a lot of people have expressed, art comes with criticism, but don't imagine for a minute that it will sway the music we want and NEED to make. Like everyone else in the band, we thrive on the chaos, and it just makes us even more ready to get back on the road and destroy **** again. To everyone who sticks up for us, total thanks. To everyone who doesn't dig everything we do, it's all good. To everone who wants more than they've heard, it's coming, and it's the album I've been waiting my whole life to make. Remember the majority (not ALL, the majority) of the music that's out right now is safe and calculated, fat on having never had a challenge. Well, the challenge has come, and we're gonna rip thru these ****ers like an AK47. Much love, Much (sic)ness... Corey Think this last post is really nice.. theyarecomingforyou
"they said that this album will be very Roger Waters / King Crimson inspired" "its radiohead meets dimmu borgir i think" LMFAO.... Slipknot likened to Radiohead... now I have heard everything. I thought Slipknot only appealed to 7-8 year olds because around here they're the ones that wear the most Slipknot merchandise. They're more of a clothing label than they are a band. Incredibly commercial... but I must be wrong cos when I confronted a Slipknot fan by saying they were crap and commerical I was accused of not being able to understand then and that there not like that. :s "Remember the majority (not ALL, the majority) of the music that's out right now is safe and calculated, fat on having never had a challenge. Well, the challenge has come, and we're gonna rip thru these ****ers like an AK47." - Corey Talyor LMAO... sounds like an immature 13 year old talking. So they think they're pretty much the only band challenging music? I would say that they are the LEAST musically inspired bands out there... yes, they put on a good show (to people who are into that thing), but they are all image and I would argue that Britney Spears is more musically creative!!! Radiohead, David Bowie, The Beatles - they challenged music.... Slipknot learnt how to put on masks and scream. Slipknot are a band that people like as a means to express themselves as an angsty teenager (yes there are always exceptions, etc). At least with Marilyn Manson there is some really good music behind it. Slipknot should just disappear like Cradle Of Filth and Chimera - all very annoying "teenage" bands that play of people wanting to be different more than the music. Just go to the Chimera website if you want a laugh - all their pictures are of them looking angry and angsty... it actually made me laugh - and a slit wrist with blood at the top of the page... please, gimme a break. ceminess
i respect heavy metal like slipknot and mudvayne, and i listen to it sometimes, but saying that a band is crap just because they are commercialised is very idiotic, and wtf do you mean commercialised just because they play there songs on the radio and because they have great record sales, lol that must mean that they suck :hmmm: dumb ****

ceminess
why don't they suck? because their songs actually have some real meaning to them, not like slipknot where half of there songs is **** you all and i wan't to kill you. and lets face it, most people don't like screaming taking up over half of the lyrics

Jordison is nothing compared to Danny Carey, Mike Gaspar, Lars Ulrich, Jukka Nevalainen and a big ETC. also, meaning in their songs, oh yeah, with a line like "i wanna slit your throat and f*ck you in the wound" is extremely meaningful and intelligent. thats why I stopped posting in shoutweb, because the maggots
Blindlabel013
theyarecomingforyou, Cradle of Filth is a great band. Only reason why some people don't like them is because of Dani's voice. kryptonik
,Mar 16 2004, 23:25]oh please, I dont start a musical debate because my music obsession but thast just utter BS, second best known? by whom? Jordison is nothing compared to Danny Carey, Mike Gaspar, Lars Ulrich, Jukka Nevalainen and a big ETC. Ok, [saint dark], that is your opinion. Who is going to say someone is better than someone other than yourself? Noone. You are the only one that can decide who is better than who. That's great. Ask those 7-8 year olds why they listen to Slipknot. You'll most likely get a stupid answer. Kids listen to anything with cussing, so I don't blame them. Slipknot is one of my favorite bands because I actually like there music. I think it's creative how they wear masks symbolizing how they feel inside (on a side note, their masks look better than ever!), and how they have all these jumpsuits and ****. And how exactly are they commercialized? If that was so, wouldn't they actually show there faces instead of wearing maks? About their single. I haven't heard it yet, but I can't wait for their cd to come out! I'll buy it as soon as I can. Also, I'll be going to their concert April 30th when they come to my city (also traveling with Chimaira & Fear Factory). Ahhh, it'll be a great day!
