You are the only one that can decide who is better than who. sorry for touching your maggot heart, Im open to hear your opinion about why jordy is the best (btw: Im not saying he is bad because he is not, he is very talented, but not the best, of course, thats the opinion of the "ruler of the universe" hint: sarcasm )

Meshuggah
,Mar 17 2004, 03:50] sorry for touching your maggot heart, Im open to hear your opinion about why jordy is the best (btw: Im not saying he is bad because he is not, he is very talented, but not the best, of course, thats the opinion of the "ruler of the universe" hint: sarcasm ) look, we all know, anytime slipknot is in the picture, comments are going to come up....either you hate them, or you love them.... They have even said that themselves before so lets just all shut up about whos the better drummer or guitarist or vocalist?.... Iowa= commercial hate music.... Self titles had some meaningful lyrics ...at least to me.... yes, corey says "****" a lot, but oh well....I say it too much as well, so lets just move on, as its just a word.... Its apparent that this new cd will have some sort of message, whether you like them or not. so how about turning this topic into something better? Anyone going to Ozzfest or Jager? theyarecomingforyou
"but saying that a band is crap just because they are commercialised is very idiotic," Stop making your own story up... I never said they were crap because they were commercial!!! I don't like bands that are overly commercial (in pop that's ok but in rock, etc, they pretend they are not commerical when they are [hypocritcal]), but the main reason I don't like them is just I don't like their music much (my opinion, obviously other people like them)... that's not to say I hate every song they have ever done, but I don't like their attitude of thinking they're one of the only innovating artists out there, nor do I like their angsty annoying screaming and constant swearing. "mmmmmmmmm did you know Joey Jordison(the drummer) is second best known drummer alive(next to the Bezerkers)" Rated by who? How can you compare the work of an artist against another? Was Picasso better than Monet? Nice try. I am *not* doubting he is a very skilled technical drummer, but I just find it just all over-the-top and he overplays, which means I think that artistically he is a very bad drummer. For skilled drummers look at Tool's Danney Carey - he has amazing understanding of time-signatures and knows not to OVERPLAY; he is also rated as one of the best drummers is the world. One point to note though is that just there are many better drummers out there who are session drummers, etc, who are a lot more talented but no-one hears of them. "and slipknot arnt commercial..when is the last time you seen them on a tv show(cept of a live performance of conan o'brian), do you see big stands at music shops dedicated to slipknot.....no." LMAO!!! Not commercial. HA!!! Wow, they don't appear on many TV shows... Wow, they don't have big stands in stores. YADA YADA. I call a band slightly commercial when I walk around town and see about 50-100 people wearing Slipknot hoodies! And they are commerical in many other ways too. Disagree all you want, live in your own dellusional world if you must, but Slipknot are a commerical band - just because they wear masks and call the public maggots doesn't mean they are not commerical. "but the deal with COF is that they have embraced the cliche too much, now is not the great show they used to be as a novelty, now they are just a comical show" I don't know what they used to be, I just know they're a joke now. They are playing off the cliche as you say. They might have been a good band, I don't know, but I just know that now they are comical and unoriginal with their bad covers (the maiden cover they did was so similar to the original apart from his crap vocals over the top and not a good solos). "And how exactly are they commercialized? If that was so, wouldn't they actually show there faces instead of wearing maks?" No, because it is a gimmick to get sales - therefore the masks make them more money. Duh. I am not trying to totally slate Slipknot... but people are in denial if they think they are not a very commercial band and also the number of times I hear that Joey is the best drummer in the world, etc, it gets boring. I am just very tired of the genre as a whole - screaming lyrics, swearing, heavy distorted guitars, overplaying drums (particularly all this obsession with double-bass drum... little kids think it is kewl but few drummers know how to use it well - Danney Carey being one of them). I am not being closed minded. I listen to Pop, Rock, Dance, Ambient, Techno, Alt Rock, Heavy Metal, Synth Pop, to name but a few. I will give music a chance (some genres I tend to like more than others)... but too many bands are just coming in and playing the stereotype and not actually innovating. Slipknot innovated to starts with, but just went more produced and [more] commerical from album 2 onwards (most people I speak to seem to agree with this point). Marilyn Manson has headed that way too and now just produces music for the sake of it, it also being too produced. It takes a truly good band to keep innovating and to not sell out, etc - Radiohead are an example (minus their first album) of a band that produces original music and change styles, while being anti-commerical such that for a couple of albums they wouldn't even tour, do interviews or release singles. That is not to say Radiohead are a truly brilliant band, just an example of a band that continues to innovate and change, rather than commericalise. theyarecomingforyou
if you dont know the band, dont criticize them. I know that I don't like the music... therefore I can criticize... I've listened to two of their [slipknot's] albums, not thoroughly but I have, so I can critize them. I have also listened to some Cradle Of Filth and found it patheticially bad, so I can criticize them. I don't see what your arguement is? Or is your arguement that unless you know all a bands stuff that you can't criticize them? I don't know much about George Bush but I know that he's awful for the world! I don't know the inner financial/social workings of Slipknot but I know they're commerical from what I see. Please explain what you're trying to say...!
