Taking requests for features on Neowin

Recommended Posts

1.) Keep the Freeware/Shareware sections up to date.

2.) Create a Forum section for "Mature Audiences Only'.

3.) The main page looks fine, except the banner at the top doesn't look right in it's current position (The Ad Banner). Maybe a header makeover would suffice...

Just a notion.

i don't think a Porn forum would work. but i wanna see some type of babes.... :) im a horny kid... looking at the same downloaded porn and tapes all the time just doesn't cut it.

actually... maybe a porn forum wouldn't work. i'm sure you can hook it up so only 16+ can go into the forum... since we all look at it anyways :D

How about an in-depth Articles/Commentary/Review Page added to the site; ie: Software , Gamers , Main , Articles/Commentary (Magazine?)

and let me be the main guy for this page, i do great commentary and articles, NeoBond, Redmak, anybody?? my contact info is all in my sig, i can send a resume

How about a "Next" link down by the forum pages. I know there is a "Next Thread" and "Previous Thread", but how about "Next Page" and "Previous Page" for the thread's pages and for the forum's pages

or the ability to select the page to jump to if the thread has several pages, maybe a drop down or something with all the thread page numbers.

I think we should compile all neowin related software into either a Download Section or a forum thread.

If anyone knows of anything else NeoWin related /pm me and I'll re-edit my post.. so we have only one post for the mods/admins to look at and check out how much the neowin community like neowin

I increased the number of pages shown at the bottom to 10. Most threads don't have more that 10 pages.

You should add a community news page... sort of like the Back-Page News except in the layout style of the front page... it would have to be moderated like the Back-Page news is now but it will be good to have a nice news format so we can check out news before it makes its way to the frontpage. Check out www.shortnews.com to see how well this can work.

you gone

ill have to agree for the most part, but the cussing part i dont think so, if i say ****, or ****, its taken out, and if i place * in place of a letter i think thats fine IMO, other than that, great idea, unless someone does something that deserves to be banned at first for trying to destroy or take down neowin in some way, another thing, i think adamxp needs to be banned, with his disrespect to the owner of this site, theres just my 2 cents, ladr

Here's my suggestions especially for people that surf the previous news posts.. people like me..

(a) Have the ability to jump back to a certain date for news posts

Right now, say I want to browse back to 14th February, I have to hop manually back... A little irritating..

(b)Put a link to jump to the previous 7 and next 7 days at the top.

Right now its only at the bottom.. so when I finish reading the news from bottom up, I have to scroll down to go back.. :ermm:

Just a couple of little suggestions

Thanks!

don't know if this has been said already. I'm on a slow connection at the moment, so i dont want to read thru everything..

Feature request:

To be able to sign in on the comments page if not already cookied.

I often read Neowin at work, but I'm usually bouncing around from PC to PC, so I need to login alot. Anyways, what made me think of this is that I'm on a slow connection sometimes, and I often forget that I'm not logged in when I go to start writing a comment. Having to go to the Forum page to login, then load the news comments page again takes too long.

I'd like to be able to do it all in one place :D

thats all for now!

Gotta love some of these ideas.

Here's one more:

A Music Forum

Makes sense, I'd like to see people talk some about their musica preferences, but I think it'd demand more of it's own forum. Oh, and I'd be willing to mod ;) :D

Ok i may be dumb on this but the ONLY complaint i have about the site is when i see a topic on the front page from the 'recent forums posts' section, and click on it, i am taken to a random post on that thread instead of the first post. this happens on threads that i have not previously read any of the post. Is there a setting for this in the 'user cpl'? i know(think) Vbulletin can/does work with cookies or cache so it knows which post each registered user has read so I don't see this as a hard problem to fix. excuse me again if there is a setting for this that i have yet to find.
