JohnsonBox
HongKong Wenweipo reported today. The newspaper pointed out 10 suspicions on the assassination of the Taiwan president Che Shui-bian. (AP pic, the shooting wound on Chen's belly, and check out the hole on the windshield pic at http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapcf/03/1...hen/index.html) One of the suspicians is that why the wound was crossed his belly while the shooting hole on the windshield of his car showed that the gunman shot him in front of his car. Another suspicion is that why two bullets were all found in the president's clothes and in the vice president's clothes? It is very weird if we just think this is just a coincidence. The newspaper suspected that the presedent or his conspirators have played this trick for the purpose of winning the election. http://www.wenweipo.com/news.phtml?cat=001...6dfdc810c38d0ed
aem4162
wouldn't china automatically say something like this, considering that it doesn't get along with taiwan?
poind
Given that the margin of victory was but 30,000 votes, with 300,000 votes having been declared invalid for whatever reasons, this thing is looking like a recount if not outright re-vote, perhaps following a bit better investigation of the supposed assassination attempt. Quite a mess. In the meantime, given China's ongoing interest/desire in not having Taiwan recognized as separate and distinct, I indeed don't take Chinese media too seriously in related things. Yes, Taiwan now does have a lot of stuff it needs to patiently, peacefully, and properly sort through. http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapcf/03/2...ions/index.html
Black Hawk
I may be confused but I don't see why China would complain since the current gov't (correct?) is against Taiwan seperating.
JohnsonBox
Hongkong's media is different to China's media, though Hongkong has been counted as part of China, but its social system was absolutely capitalism. Regarding the assassination attempt, all China's media just reported a very brief news which contained a sentence, even in sina, the China's biggest portal on the Internet, refused netizens to comment anything about it; while Hongkong's media continuously reported any details about it. FreeWaRrior
supposedly, if the bullet moved a bit one way or the other (in direction), it would of hit a vital organ (forgot the source, I think it was cnn) anyways, if that's true, would he risk his life for the election?
