Anti -John Kerry Debate?

Recommended Posts

Hi. I know that a lot of people are gonna bash me on this, but I want to debate on why John Kerry should not be elected for president. First of all, I think that John Kerry makes empty promises that seems long and overused. He claims to be a war hero in vietnam when he only spent 4 months there shooting innocent unarmed soldiers. He tries to hide his record, but then many decades later announces to the public view in an apolgetic manner. i think that this is obscure and that he should not be running for president. I would rather have bush for president because he has stood up through the past 4 years in office. His hardship dealing with september 11th and the war on terror should get to keep him in office a second term. I see too many posts on why John Kerry is good and why George Bush is so bad. Lets turn the tables around and see the bad side of Kerry, and the good side of bush.

I don't see a "good" side to bush. Any president probably could have done what he did during 9/11. Did he do it well? Could he have done it better? Could another person have done it as good or even better? It think the answer to those questions is yes.

Do you think you could look up his real war record other than what you get via propaganda email?

Tell you what, I'll give you a link to a site that defines what Kerry did or didn't do in Viet Nam. Also keep in mind that for his "second" star..the Bronze Star...the guy he pulled out of the water while under fire, will tell anyone who will listen, that yes indeed, Kerry IS a hero......

But then he hasn't had the fortune to land on an air craft carrier yet.....

The first article is the one refered to on Snopes......the rest is the true story...have fun reading it. :)

Well, you can't just go on his so-called ability to handle foreign affairs, which after Richard Clark spoke on 60 Minutes, brings even that into question. It is domestic issues that he has failed miserably at. The defictis are the highest of any president, mostly due the the tax cuts for the rich and now this Medicare fiasco is now going to cost 1/3 more than original, his stance on off-shoring american jobs, rather not really paying attention. Environmental policy is terrible, rolling back edicts put in place by Clinton. To be honest with you, nobody right now is really concerned with Iraq or the war on terror, people here are afraid of losing their jobs and their own economic future. With all this going against Bush, he won't win. Sorry

Actually some of the edicts Clinton put in place did nothing to help the enviroment and in turn only raised user prices. Not all of them, but some of them.

what are you talking about, he got 3 purple heats (and after three you are allowed to leave) and silver star... and saved solgiers lives. whats the argument that bush did something better... he half ass served in the guard and skipped a 5 year waiting list to get in because dada got him in... please, that argument is pointless

911... did you watch 60 minutes last night?

i love how these conversations never say what Kerry policies people are for, just how much Bush is bad....i guess that's what happens when Dems put up a very weak candidate, Bush will tear him to shreds.

see, there's more to this campaign than the war. certain things that bush is against, are things that are more important to me than the war. im sorry if that seems selfish. i have my own ideas about how bush handled and will handle the "war on terror", but at the same time im thinking more about my own quality of life. so if you're main arguement is going to be a candidates policy for handling the war, its going to fall on deaf ears here.

I really never hear anyone sing the praises of Kerry. The only hope for the Democrats is to paint the worst picture of Bush possible, but I believe this is going to backfire and turn off a lot of voters.

So far the only thing I've heard Kerry say he would do different in his little commercials is that he would raise taxes. oh yippy.

Sometimes is feels like the democratic campaign doens't even mention Kerry that much. He doesn't come out as a strong personality, and this campaign is not candidate centered, while the Bush campaign is.

People voting for Kerry will be voting on Bush hatred rather than for a better candidate for the job.

Hell, even IF Kerry did manage to win he wouldn't be able to do a damn thing while in office. He'll be dealing with a republican house and senate that won't let a single thing he tries to do pass. Not much attention is payed to this as it should be, but from what I've read we are going to be picking up more republican seats in Congress than we have now in this election.

I look at my pay stub every 2 weeks. Then I remember why I would never vote for Kerry. I pay enough in taxes and qualify as wealthy in Kerry's eyes (makes me wonder what he would call himself). For everyone who retorts with Bush's cuts being for the rich only, I assure you I don't feel rich crusing in my 95 Accord with 115k miles on it. Or when I clip coupons and buy store brand peanut butter. I did recieve some tax relief that was very helpful. Take that away from me to fund more social services for many who don't deserve it? Relax I didn't say all, just many - I know, I see them everyday and know first hand the level of fraud that occurs.

I don't think Kerry has ever voted for a Republican issue, yet Bush has voted for Democrat's issues. That shows me that Kerry is unwilling to compromise for the common goal and Bush is, even if it hurts him politically.

Kerry seems to be a person who would do a better job protecting small businesses. I have seen some debates with other Dems, he has better ideas and greater knowlage in handling small business.

WTF? you do realize that small business owners are typically those making 200 grand or more a year and that Kerry is calling these people the "wealthy" that should be taxed even more.

He wants to hike taxes on small businesses and this causes employers to fire people. My dad owns a small business, makes a little over 200grand a year, and pays taxes out the nose. When the taxes go up, he fires people, when they are cut he hires more. It's really a simple concept. He always tells me how he has to make twice what he wants in order to get half it. How can you view Kerry as the champion of small business?

I've said this in other threads, if you're making over 100k you're very well off, if you're making over 200k you are wealthy. The number of people who make more money then that are incredibly small. As far as more taxes go, I think that's something we have to face, unless you'd rather see the government go even further in debt and every government sponsored program fall by the wayside. I agree with Kerry's plans to cut military spending, and hopefully to cut back on unnecessary military operations.

how 'bout we cut welfare programs instead.

also, you, just like a lot of people here, are ignoring the fact that business owners are those in the "wealthy class" you want to tax so much. It keeps the poor poor if employers have to cut jobs to keep their revenue.

Damn, you had to bring up taxes. My wife and I just fell into the next tax bracket up this year. (2) Child tax credits, we itemized, etc etc. We took it in our arse, Im still friggin ****ed. I made about 10,000 more than last year and the difference was huge. Thats what we get for working harder. Might as well shuck everything and go on welfare if Kerry gets in. Ill be able to afford a house on welfare.

Another thing, this thread is supposed to be about Kerry, why do we keep bringing up Bush? You folks sound so silly.

The entire basis of this thread is silly. An "Anti-Kerry Debate"? That makes no sense. Someone needs to look up the word debate.

Sure, that amounts to what, 1/100 of what military spending is?

I'm not ignoring the fact that business owners are part of the wealthy class, but I do fail to see how taxing a CEOs income hurts the companies profits, and thereby makes it impossible to hire more employees.

Sure he will, with the news about Richard Clark saying how Bush negected Al-Queda before 9/11, his performance on the economy and how few jobs are being created, how his team on Medicare now admit that this plan will cost 1/3 more and how members of that team were essentially told that if they didn't come witha small figure there would be grave consequences, his performance on the environment, the lackluster performance in Iraq. All of this is perfect fuel for Kerry. Apparently, Kerry will rip "Shrub" to shreds

They're both deceivers. Neither of them is going to do what they say they are simply because they can't. Congress spends the real money and without a line item veto all this talk of Kerry vs. Bush is nonsense. Might as well stop arguing about it because it doesn?t matter who wins, spending will increase, taxes will increase and with that a self perpetuating cycle that neither party has the stones to really do anything about. If you don?t believe me, look back over the last however many years you want. We always trend up. Higher spending and higher taxes. You aren?t going to change that with either guy.

Well, I'd rather go with the lesser of the two evils and right now that is Kerry

Why Not Kerry? Aside from the fact that he holds opposing viewpoints on most issues I care about, depending on what day it is and where he's speaking, the hypocrisy that his campaign poses against his lifestyle and voting record are more than I could stomach.

From his website:

I?m running for President because George Bush has taken America in a radically wrong direction with a Presidency thaserves powerful special interests instead of everyday Americans.i>

Yet being a mere Senator seems to have paid off very well for Mr. Kerry.

WASHINGTON - From a sailing mecca to a ski resort, presumptive Democratic nominee John Kerry (news - web sites) and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, enjoy the trappings of their wealth iat least five homes and vacation getaways valued at nearly $33 million.b>

Some are private escapes for the family, while others serve as prime spots to host fund-raisers and exclusive gatherings for wealthy donors. All reflect the couple's status ? he is a four-term Massachusetts senator, she is heiress to the $500 million family ketchup fortune ? with breathtaking vistas, elegant furnishings and enclosures that protect the property from prying eyes.

Each home has a place in the family's life, with its own history and mission, from the preppy island of Nantucket and Boston's Beacon Hill to the Pittsburgh countryside, from the Idaho mountains to the nation's capital.
