Windows XP Service Pack 2 Interim Build 2120

Recommended Posts

Windows XP Service Pack 2 Interim Build 2120 is now available for download.

Go and get it while it's fresh!

I'm on dial-up here, no download for me. I'd die before the download completes. Maybe. . . . .

Known Issues

Please be aware of these two known issues with build 2120:

Internet Explorer may hang when browsing large websites over a secure (HTTPS) connection. Users can close the hung window through Task Manager.

Error "Windows Installer:  The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed." encountered when installing some applications. To work around this issue:

a) Reboot the machine.

b) Log in as the local administrator.

c) In a console window run ?msiexec /regserver?

After reading the ^ I really won't bother getting this build. But maybe Cream will and we may then get to see the changes:D; :D

Hello, the newest member here!

I had the 2096 and went to Windows Beta site and downloaded the 2120 but after I installed it still shows 2096??? I did not choose the option for uninstall when installing 2096 and I signed on to Win Beta site via my hotmail account. Why do I still have the 2096? Do I have to sign in with user id/password to download 2120? Anybody can provide it if so? Thanks!

But you need to be a registered beta tester

I know it is not for me but I want to ask too.

I used to be a beta tester for some products and I went to the site with my hotmail account and was able to download. But there is one more option to sign in "ID that begins with "MPC" or "WPC" which I don't have. Is it something different then sign in with your hotmail/.Net account?

It's good they email us testers about these things. I find out whats available for me from Neowin faster than I do from MS.

Just noticed after updating to 2120, Windows Update no longer goes to test.v5.windowsupdate, but instead goes just to v5.windowsupdate
