Roger Clemens passed Steve Carlton for 2nd place on MLB's all time strikeouts list tonight in Houston's victory over the Pirates. Clemens tied Carlton at 4,136 when he struck out Pittsburgh pitcher Kip Wells on a foul bunt with 2 strikes. Victim #4,137 was Raul Mondesi in the 5th inning. The ball was taken out of play, and Clemens stepped off the mound and tipped his cap to the Houston fans.

Records or not, it seems like he is having one of the best years he's had in a long time.

He won't keep this pace up. It's just his first time through the league, and most of the NL hitters haven't seen him much before. 2nd time around, they'll catch up to him. i see about a 17-18 win season.. ERA around 3-3.50.. and i think he'll pitch one more year
