Pink Floyd Veteran Posted June 26, 2004 Veteran Share Posted June 26, 2004 I guess all FCK key will be blocked but since there is way to change the serial number, the block routine is useless.. I own a legit one and I dont even install sp1 because it slows xp a lot... So I will prolly not install sp2 either xp 2600 is fast enough and secure enough for me I just hope ms will find a new way to block pirate versions even if this extremely hard to do Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/165323-windows-xp-sp2-for-all/page/5/#findComment-2363465 Share on other sites

memNOC
it was confirmed by many people.... legit corp editions have a 640 PID, and the blue list Keegan makes other keys too, so ms blacklisted the other PIDsa keygen was made to generate 640 PIDs only you sure about that? people claiming to have legit copies had 640 PIDs.. dilemma... Banzai
I think that this is so unjust if your going to be a warez monkey you shouldn?t be able to keep your self safe, you should buy your own copy!! People can still download the patches anyway so why give them the sp! Pootis Spencer
Actually I found SP1 to speed up the OS. It has lots of tweaks that made it feel faster for me. And in Service Pack 2 they blocked off a whole new set of keys for SP2. My hutch is the keys that they blocked off, where the ones from the SP1 keygen people used to change there keys from FCK so that they can upgrade to SP1. I hope they block of the keys from the new infamous blue-list keygen for SP2. Orange Battery
I know so many people with pirate versions of xp that are not big computer users and some thought they was actually getting a legitimate copy of xp as it had a serial number and stuff, others have got it because they was having too many problems with windows millennium and was not prepared to pay a lot of money for another version of windows if it stood the chance of performing as bad as millenium. Personally I like to have a real version of xp, I got the OEM version that didn't cost me much at all and it allows me to update easily and not have to worry about if I can get new service packs or anything. Not allowing pirated versions of xp to be updated with sp2 will probably effect us users the most as we use windows all the time and have contact with a lot of people using pirated versions of xp whether we know it or not. Not allowing the people who have pirated copies of xp to update is only gonna effect us I think as the casual user wont care about updating if it means they have to run keygens etc and most wont even know about sp2. Stopping all users being able to update with service packs wont stop piracy, people already have the operating system and although I disagree with piracy I feel stopping security updates for pirated versions hurts everyone with a copy of xp Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/165323-windows-xp-sp2-for-all/page/5/#findComment-2363802 Share on other sites
riahc3
I agree!!!! Why would someone go out of their way even a company like Microsoft by possibly losing money but still offering updates for users with non-legit copies. I heard somthing about this earlier where ppl with 401 - 429 in their product IDs wont be able to run it and would get totally locked out of their systems. I bet thats whats going to happen.... But! lets not forget as Microsoft writes software there are non-legit developers working side by side the write cracks and hacks for their software so NOTHING will ever be totally legit.THe buzz the sentence you said about locking out of our systems............its that ilegal to do that??? djesteban
hmmm.... heh... a lot of people here seems to know about what will be blacklisted or not... well.. I can tell you that there's already a way to circonvent the SP2 new protection scheme... it's all about the key... SP1 blocked key that where widely available through the net. SP2 concentrate on blocking certain "strings" (I'm replacing the real word by strings since I don't want to go to far here, policies obliges) that are created when you enter your serial number. I'm VERY doubtful microsoft will find a way to blacklist every key that can be "created". That's almost impossible... There only way is to go through a blacklist scheme, that actually can also blacklist legit corp key... unfortunatelly for people/companies who bought it. Evolution
if your a tester MS gives you a free key ;) so if you didnt pay for yours its no worries yup, there's one problem though. Those keys only last for a few months, and they were designed specifically to work with only one build. Bizkit
Wow. Theres alot of heat in this thread. If they blacklist some of the keys, then someone will make a keygen. I remember when SP1 came out, and people were saying that it was pirate proof. For about 3 days. The same with will happen to SP2. I feel fine in buying XP because I know that Longhorn will not be coming out next year, so I don't feel like I would be wasting my money.
