0 darthfader
I dont think so because it only emulates a 10 Mhz CPU better than 0 mhz but then not cheaper than a real mac

0 hoyablue
KeynoteFinal Cut Express iDVD OmniGraffle OmniOutliner BBEdit Apple's Mail.app, iChat AV, Safari, iPhoto, and Garageband (though bundled with OS X). Enigmo is a pretty fun game too - and it's only for Mac OS, though I'd hardly call that a killer application. Word, Dreamweaver, and photoshop are sufficiently different enough that I wouldn't want to use the Windows versions again but thats a matter of GUI for the most part - they're pretty close. I could name a few applications on Windows that I would like to see on OS X (Visual Studio is beautiful), and I wouldn't mind ... that's about all I want, but I'm sure there are thousands of Windows only programs that some people just can't live without. The point is that there are applications that are not available for Windows - many are very compelling for thousands of people. There are also features in OS X that are not available in other platforms (it's color management is unmatched, and it's a nearly perfect blend of UNIX guts & sane/simple interface). Just like Windows has features that aren't available in other platforms, and applications that don't work anywhere else. 9/10 times we're all using the same software. Need to write some documents, you're probably using Word. Messing with photos: Photoshop. Working with web content - the macromedia/adobe suites. Screwing about with MP3 files: iTunes (or maybe WinAmp/XMMS but you get the idea). I guess several million people per year think that the OS X software library is big enough that it's not really that limiting. One damn good reason for a PC user to want access to an OS X system would be to test their websites against Safari, Opera Mac, iCab, Camino, and IE5/Mac which make up an estimated 10% of the browsers on the internet. Not a majority, but it's a big enough chunk that businesses are interested (especially if your client believes the stereotype that Mac. owners are all rich trend-followers). While there are some legality issues surrounding this whole project, I think it has a shot at doing a lot of good for the x86 and Macintosh crowds. I admire your patience with this idiot. 0 VWW
Hmmm... i've just checked the PearPC sourceforge project page ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/pearpc/ ) and it has an Activity Percentile for last week of 0% :( Does that mean nothing was done on PearPC last week?? Strange considering it was only released yesterday
0 Noodles_
I get to see the Apple logo on the grey screen. But after a few seconds, I get an error: panic: We are hanging here... Has anyone found a way to get past that? BTW: You don't need to install Darwin! Just download one of the blank .img from the download page on that site and then use that. 0 Kibirinis
I think the authors of pear pc didn't isntall the whole OS because there is no guide for "How to run OS when it's already installed" it would be stupid to install again, everytime when you want tu run OS X. 0 scoobydoobie
could someone tell me what the point is of emulating a mac? It's gonna be slower. It's probably not gonna be as stable. There really isn't any worthwhile software exclusive to macs. At least not so important that you would need to emulate it. I'm NOT trying to start anything.. just want to know what the big deal would be Edited May 11, 2004 by scoobydoobie
