0 eaglebtc
Why is this thread NOW moved to 'Discussing Mac OS'. It blatantly ISN'T Discussing Mac OS, but emulation for an application designed for Windows and Linux. Agreed. Not that I would openly participate in "mod sassery," but there really isn't any place to make this thread less conspicuous. It's already gotten lots of attention and PearPC isn't going away anytime soon. Maybe the mods should just put it back? 0 Steve
^^^^^Agreed. Not that I would openly participate in "mod sassery," but there really isn't any place to make this thread less conspicuous. It's already gotten lots of attention and PearPC isn't going away anytime soon. Maybe it belongs in the Customization and Skinning section? I don't know about the suggestion you made, but i really CANNOT understand why a thread about a Windows (mainly) application would fall into a forum, where Windows applications natively do not run... Whatever next - 'Skin your PC to look like Aqua' *moved* to Customizing your Mac Its gotta be moved. 0 Ryan Hoffman
This is what I've been saying all along! It doesn't belong anywhere! And one HUGE thread isn't good! (I've changed my board settings to 40 posts per page, that makes it *better*) I'm posting this from my PearPC Mac OS X 10.3.4 :-). As aformentioned, can someone tell me where/how to get a 15gb iso? 0 Ryan Hoffman
This is just so funny. Mac'ish people have been complaining about Windows people for so long. Windows people were 'wannabes' when we skinned our XP installs to look like OS X. Now that Windows people can really run Mac OS X, I can feel the hate even more :-). I personally don't care for PPC emulation, I know how OS X is on slow computers, so i really would not envy any of you guys doing it. Fair play for wanting to or whatever, but emulating OS X is a joke...

I'm not hateful against this, because I can just use my real 17" FP iMac which I know is way faster then this emulator will ever be. ;)

Fair play for wanting to or whatever, but emulating OS X is a joke... Well, I guess I made too big of a generalization, my appologies. You'd be suprised about PearPC: on my Athlon XP 2800+ with 1GB of ram (512 for OSX), the emulated Mac runs pretty well (considering it's version 0.2pre, and features are still comming in, etc). It's no real mac: I'm not even going to attempt installing Final Cut Pro, so something to that nature, but I can forsee PearPC getting good enough to allow that. At work, I have a Dual G4 1.2ghz (if iI can recall, I don't usually go into 'about this mac' ;-) but I'll look tomorrow), and this is no comparison to it. I think Apple is going to be very happy (not publiclly ) about PearPC. Instead of people not buying Macs, I predict the opposite: this will cause more people to want a Mac. One last note: I dont know how they do it, but the text on Neowin looks to much sexier in Safari then in IE/FireFox (Win32) ;-).
0 thekore
I think PearPC will soon Die... if not because of huge unstability but because Apple dont appriecate it and launch a law suit

Thats why I'm not bothered! ;) It might inspire people to buy Mac's, maybe, but back to my original point - people need to be in these forums reading about Mac's, not about x86 applications ... As for Font Rendering, yeah it really is nice. OmniWeb too is really nice. I think its' down to Cocoa Apps...
0 Ryan Hoffman
people need to be in these forums reading about Mac's, not about x86 applications Your right. It think this thread does not belong here. However, I think people should post their questions about Mac OS X (even if they are running it in PearPC) here. So, if you want to know how to mount a .dmg, ask it in the mac forums. If you want to know whats wrong with your config file, you should ask that in the windows forums..

0 Ryan Hoffman
For all the Win32 users that want to make Hard Disks, turns out Windows comes with a tool. the syntax: fsutil file createnew <nameoffile> <sizeinbytes> For the file size, just do this simple calculation: [#ofGByouWant] * 2 * 528482304. So, to create the 15gb image file I wanted, I ran the command: fsutil file createnew 15gb.img 15854469120 Just go into the Disk Utility (Applications -> Disk Utility), and format it :-). 0 Fonze
PearPC may make or break a normal user's decision on whether they would want to switch to a mac, but it should never change a gamers mind. I run a p4 3ghz with 1gb of ram, and my comp is primarily used to play games, watch DVDs in college, and re-encode TV that i record on my server. Switching to a mac is completely impractical to me. that's why I like being able to use PearPC to atleast try out some of the stuff in OSX and run a mac app, if i find one that i need at some point. that is the flaw with emulating a PC on a Mac, you can't emulate the PC to play games. but on a PC i can play games and emulate the mac to do other things
