Go to Cnet and test your bandwith and post it on neowin.

its a good old time race. who's the fastest.

This is what i got

it so easy to cheat

http://reviews.cnet.com/7009-7254_7-0.html...Shaw&&kbps=type the speed u want here

eg.

http://reviews.cnet.com/7009-7254_7-0.html...kbps=99999999.9

706.1 kbps

I am meant to be on a 256K plan but Telecom (the only residential adsl provider in New Zealand) screwed up somewhere and they can't find the problem, and as a result I am going faster than I should be.

272 MB/s! That's gotta be very quick, does Neowin's main page load in a blink of an eye?

I can't beat you though, mine's just an average-speed connection not worth mentioning.

Cheers :D,

= 270 megabits (Mb) / second not megabytes (MB)

270 Mb/s ~ 340 KB/s ;)

Likely just a typo, but just incase you misunderstood.... :D

 I've always thought that Mbps is Megabyte per second, although I may have heard of megabits somewhere. Thanks for correcting my mistake. By the way, what's the formula (roughly) to calculate from Mb/s to KB/s. So, may I ask, what is 56K  ?

Cheers :D,

Yeah... great test... 700kbps?! I don't think so.... i'm sposed to be on a 10mbps pipe (this is at work though before you think I am lying) - can normally download from Microsoft.com at around 1.05MB/sec!! :)

1 byte = 8 bits

1 KB = 1000 bytes

1 MB = 1000 KB

:D

EDIT: by the way, I messed up on my math earlier, it was corrected later by jbo
