i suppose baseball is more entertaining?

watch a guy throw a ball, the other either gives it a whack (which is usually followed by another guy catching the ball and it starts all over again.. or, in the 10% of the cases, they actually DON'T catch the ball, and that's where the real fun starts.. the whacker starts running and either a) gets touched with the ball where the play ends, or b) doesn't and keeps on running.. woohoo.. this running doesn't last more than 10secs, just in case you were getting excited, cuz he either camps at one of the three campsites or keeps on running and wins a touchdown for his team!), or he simply misses, and after three missed throws, it's another dude's turn..

complicated game made for the thinker.. too bad it's freaking boring, especially watching it.. while we at it, what's with the annoyingly extended time the pitcher takes to freaking throw the ball? he either starts chewing on his gum, fixing his shorts/shirt/cap and looking plain cool, or starts playing with some flour he keeps handy at all times.. JUST THROW THE DAMN BALL, the game could be 2 hours shorter if you threw it right away.... nobody wants to see your pansy ass strike a pose..

now soccer, although incredibly simple at it's core (what? get 20 guys kicking a ball, running left and right, and see which one scores..), it's amazingly fun to play and even watch.. there are so many oportunities of scoring, and the game never cools down.. there's always action on the field, and the game could turn around in matters of seconds.. there's so much into play with soccer players.. there has to be actual teamplay, where the entire team could be involved at one point, whatever another player does, it depends and influences the others.. you just can't go kicking the ball on your own, expecting to score a goal..

anyways, it might be boring for you, but soccer is a very multi-layered sport..

Soccer is watching the grass grow, baseball is watching people walk around in a diamond, basketball is a lot sweaty tall men huddled together, wrestling is a bunch of muscly guy going through planned moves, F-1 is a bunch of rich drivers cruising around a track that you can't even see.... you can complain that every sport is boring. I love soccer because I grew up watching it, just like some people are die hard baseball or basketball fans. if you already think soccer is boring, no argument can make you enjoy it.

If you were in Hong Kong during the England vs. Brazil match in the world cup, you will understand the power of soccer. The normally bustling streets are completely empty, the city is totally quiet, until a goal is scored.

this is what said, learn to read . . .

Who said that?

This is what the guy said to whom the other guy responsed "wtf!? No contact in soccer".

Soccer is not to my liking. Most people like sports with contact. I am not one of them however because i like badminton. Soccer might not be as boring if it had contact probably.

Perhaps it is you who need to learn to read.

as the worlds most watched and popular sport, i find soccer to be very interesting to watch. that's why I also watch basketball, to kinda contrast soccer. it doesn't get boring watching soccer but they don't always score a lot, or not even a single goal sometimes. basketball on the other hand, they score lots and lots of points are there.

it's "boring" because American's dont have a good team to root for. Once they got to playing Germany in 2002, things started to change, lets hope another good show by America comes up, watch and see how you get into the game.

on a side note, why is baseball so damn fun to watch!?!?!?

I'm sure some of you will immediately claim that I'm an ignorant American (I'm neither), but I just can't get over the fact that soccer is boring as hell.

I watched a tournament match recently and counted the number of "good scoring chances" (that is when the ball came even close to the net) each team had. There was at best, a good chance once every 5 minutes. And this continued for over 90 boring minutes.

Why is this sport so popular again? Is it because anyone can pick it up and play with one piece of equipment (the ball)?

Who were you watching?

Some Asain Division10 team?

soccers not my thing. i tried getting into it years ago but just wasnt interesting enough for me. a lot of the times it's way to slow. not enough scoring!! of course there are exciting games every once in a while but they dont show much soccer on tv around here unless it's on the mexican channels and then i have no clue whats going on

ice hockey is where it's at though

please, when you post saying "soccer is boring" please tell us which sport isn't boring...

I can understand that you americans dont like it, you havnt got a good national team so you havent gone far in a tournament and felt the exeitment... And you dont have a good national league either... Trust me, if you moved to a soccer country (any country in europe) 95% of you would be crazy about it... You cant watch a match where you dont support any of the sides or where you havnt got anything in common with... Sure, I would be bored if a watched a local norweigan game, I hardly know the name of a norweigan team and I dont know any players... Even though it might be a top clash and a excellent game I wouldnt enjoy it as much as a liverpool friendly...

Watching football (soccer, the american term) is the best when you have followed a team for ages, through the ups and the downs.. Or when you country is fighting for the european or the world cup.. I personly cant wait for euro 2004, it is exacly 17 days now until the kickoff (I have a countdown on my pda :p)... The feeling of a mayor tournament that only comes every forth year is indescribable... The whole country, and I mean the whole country will be watching... You sit there, first you are eager to score then someone manages to score, now either you are so nervous because you want to keep the lead or you are biting you nails hoping you will score to stay in the game... All of a sudden, 90 minutes isnt enough...

Its like, in the rest of the world, you wont find a single country where baseball or american football is popular, its a american way.. I have watched part of the superbowl once, it was very boring for me, I changed the channel after 15 minutes.. There was just pauses all the time.. I couldnt stand it, but I understand why you do.. I would probebly love it to if I was in the US under the superbowl, a large nation watching a big event...
