Might be corrupted installation files.

Here's one solution that might work....

uninstall your Opera..... through ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.

Next, go to PROGRAM FILES, remove the OPERA directory.

Then, (I assume you are using Win XP), go to C:\Documents and Settings\(User ID)\Application Data. It's a hidden folder, remove the Opera directory as well. This directory contains profiles, settings and etc for opera.

This should fully allow you to install a "clean" version.

I'd remove the traces from previous Opera installations from /Documents and Settings/ if I were you. Make sure to back up your mail folder if you're using Opera for mail. I forgot exactly where the Opera folder is located, you'll have to look for the folder. Do a search for "Opera" in /Documents and Settings/, it's a hidden system folder in the root directory of the HD you installed Windows on.
