Yvo
Anyone notice their boot screen with Windows XP SP2 RC2 when it boots up. It only had the Windows XP logo and says Copyright Microsoft. They removed Professional/Home and the copyright date. I performed a clean install of Windows XP RC2. The cool thing I do notice that it now includes drivers for my 9800XT. However I personally think they removed the copyright date because it still mentioned 2001 and since it won't be another 2 years before we see longhorn that'll mean 5 yrs and no windows. Good marketing ploy :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/179114-sp2-rc2-boot-screen/ Share on other sites
dreamthief
I doubt it is so. My thoughts are since those are not final builds, the original artwork with copyright and etc are not included during the compilation process. Either that, or we might get to see a new Boot screen with flashy "Windows XP SP2 : THis is what the consumer should have instead of waiting for two Service packs!" :p Just joking. LispyGlitter2
they took out the versioning to unify the boot in all version of XP, since it now comes in many "flavours". It's less code to worry about during start up, and makes the screen look cleaner. This is going to final, this isn't just for the Beta. Martog
I noticed it took place around build 2120 at least, as that was a post RC1 build released on Windows Beta, and on XP Media Center Edition, it just said Windows XP, kind of interesting though. Yvo
i just found it funny that they removed the copy right 1985-2001 as if they dont want people to know that windows xp was developed in 2001 and it's 2004. b3ta
It's good that the old © 2001 part is gone, that made Windows XP feel quite old. But Why did they really remove the "Professional" and "Home Edition". That decision confuses me, the two versions are different enough. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/179114-sp2-rc2-boot-screen/#findComment-2305103 Share on other sites

Yeh look for the original @ theme XP i dont know the link bot look for it on google on something and it has other custom boot screens and the original ones :) BTW i think LipsyGlitter is right it must be a bug not design related but i never knew it lasted for so long. To which I was replied, "we're changing it". Rock on! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/179114-sp2-rc2-boot-screen/#findComment-2310562 Share on other sites
