Anyone notice their boot screen with Windows XP SP2 RC2 when it boots up.

It only had the Windows XP logo and says Copyright Microsoft.

They removed Professional/Home and the copyright date.

I performed a clean install of Windows XP RC2. The cool thing I do notice that it now includes drivers for my 9800XT. However I personally think they removed the copyright date because it still mentioned 2001 and since it won't be another 2 years before we see longhorn that'll mean 5 yrs and no windows. Good marketing ploy :D

I doubt it is so. My thoughts are since those are not final builds, the original artwork with copyright and etc are not included during the compilation process.

Either that, or we might get to see a new Boot screen with flashy "Windows XP SP2 : THis is what the consumer should have instead of waiting for two Service packs!" :p Just joking.

they took out the versioning to unify the boot in all version of XP, since it now comes in many "flavours". It's less code to worry about during start up, and makes the screen look cleaner. This is going to final, this isn't just for the Beta.

that was a bug in previous builds...do you get that with RC2? I haven't tried it yet.

personally I like it saying proffesional now it looks empty, is there a way to get the old boot screen back? perhaps a file to copy to the i386 dir on the cd.

Yeh look for the original @ theme XP i dont know the link bot look for it on google on something and it has other custom boot screens and the original ones :)

BTW i think LipsyGlitter is right it must be a bug not design related but i never knew it lasted for so long.

Would you believe that it was my bug report which spurred this on? I had complained about the anti-aliasing (and lack thereof) on the boot screen.

To which I was replied, "we're changing it".

Rock on!
