well not too sure about microsoft products, but if you want optical/wireless you could look at the logitech m700 mouse. or even the logitech mx duo; which includes both a wireless keyboard and mouse. i am very happy with it, the weight of the mouse takes a bit getting used to but its really not that bad. for the duo i spent 79.99 CND which is a really good price considering what you are getting.

well ive ive had it for a couple of months and havent replaced the batteries in the keyboard yet, and the charge is reported as "good" still. as for the mouse i can use it for 3-5 hours a day and recharge it about once a week. i just put it in the recharging base overnight or even a couple of hours if its in the middle of the day and its good to go.

The intellimouse series works just fine for games, both wired and wireless. As for batterylife, Microsoft doesn't use rechargable, however I've had the most recent set of batteries in here about 5 months now. I'm a heavy user as well, quite a few hours a day gaming, graphic design, etc, far superior to having to charge the Logitech I had all the time. As for having to replace batteries, I don't think buying 2 aa's every 5 - 6 months is a big deal. I also find the microsoft mouse fits my hand far more comfortably, especially after I had my operation done for carpal tunnel. The mouse weel itself also works much better for me, far smoother than anything anyone else offers.

I have an intellimouse wireless optical explorer, its really handy, I have set up the buttons to perform individual tasks in different programs and so can sit outside with my music on, being able to change tracks, increase or decrease the volume, without the need to go to my computer. It's also handy for watching southpark whilst in bed so I can select without getting out of bed and shut down too. It's a real lazy boy toy, and is superb for gaming. Best part is that it performs off of any surface and is easy to program, I have the new leather clad one, but I've resorted back to my other one due to the software that the new ones use, it means you can't program the buttons to different functions in different programs, only universal functions.

I'm afraid on short life batteries if using wireless peripherals .. For daily use ( 3-4 hours , no playing ) how long can they survive ?

The MX700 has a charger built into the base... so batteries wont be a problem...

If you dont want to deal with batteries in general you can check out the MX500 (same as MX700 but wired) or the MX510 if you like pretty colors...

As far as keyboard goes, its all a matter of preference... You will have to pick one that you like. But, I can tell you that you will love the MX series mice. :D

I just recently got a MX510 upgrading from my MX700. I loved my MX700 To death but I get some kinda interference where I live, it had jittering. The MX510 is logitech's current flagship mouse. I am having a total blast with it. Its ultra quick and responsive lol I basically had to re-learn it because I had gotten used to the MX700's weight. Keyboard wise I would recommend either a Microsoft Multimedia Keyboard, Logitech Elite USB, or an Ideazon Zboard (which are really cool because you can change out templates for like games and photoshop).

I love this mouse, although I have the wireless edition, you can disable the new scrolling methood if you are going to play games but I can't read documents anymore without the smooth wheel of this lovely mouse. I always hated recharging my batteries on my old mouse, buying a mouse with built in battery is not so clever as battery life degrades over time and it's annoying as hell if you want to play on your computer when your batteries are empty. You can buy rechargeable batteries for the MS mice, and external battery charger, much better than getting frustrated by needing to put the mouse in susped mode for time and time. The tilt wheel I love and I like the design and the side buttons are in right location that does not hurt your fingers unlike logitec's "made for alien" MX series.

i have a wireless intellimouse explorer and i freakin love the thing. i dont think i will ever be able to use another mouse. i mean, every time i use someone elses mouse it just discusts me. it fits perfectly right into the palm of my hand, and the programmable buttons are cool. i also like having the 5 buttons because it helps a lot in games. and as far as the batterey life goes, i've had mine for about 6 months now, and the batteries are still going strong. and i play games and do web design a lot, so it's not like i'm taking it easy on the thing. definitly a good mouse.
