seminis
Attached is a fan that I received that had been pulled from working Dell Optiplex GX1 system (apparently) I got two identical ones. Im trying to get it to work, but it doesn't want to seem to go!! Is there any secret to making these Dell fans works? ~~ On the sticker, it printed "JMC Datech" Model 5215-12HBTL DC 12V 0.3A.. They both are 50mm in size I tested it through a 12V transformer like I do with other system fans (non-Dell) and work fine.. is this fan pooped? The red wire is labeled 'V', black = 'G' and white = 'S' which sound normal to me, +, -, & signal terminals? seminis
Got any ideas of how to make it turn on anyway? :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/181477-dell-cpu-fans/#findComment-2339846 Share on other sites
Diffused Mind
There might be a thermistor under the sticker. If there is, cut the thermistor off, and then just connect the two remaining wires. I did that to a ThermalTake fan that wouldnt turn un unless it was blazing hot, and I wanted it on constantly. seminis
No thermistors, got one of the two to work (somehow) tried to do the same to the second but it just wobbles and heats up :| Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/181477-dell-cpu-fans/#findComment-2339889 Share on other sites
Diffused Mind
If you get, get a multimeter, and read out the voltages for each of the pins on the motherboard. Red & black should be for power, and white is probably for either A) RPM detection or B) possibly a turn-on signal?
